I don’t always know the answer but I can tell you what I do when I feel unsafe or off balance.
1. I pause.
2. I ask myself if I’m responding from a truly authentic place or reacting from a place of fear.
3. If the situation is not worth my energy or attention I move on.
4. My voice matters, even if I’m the only one speaking or my opinion is unpopular.
5. I’m not for everyone and that’s ok!

I feel my anxiety creeping up as I head to a large work meeting on the East Coast.
It’s not my performance that concerns me. It’s that question, “How many kids do you have?”
I’m OK with the truth. “I have two boys but one passed away two and a half years ago.”
They usually look at me with shock then sadness. Will it ever get easier?
Then there’s “the look”. Either I’m not grieving enough or I’m grieving too much. Geez Louise. Stop judging what you don’t understand.
My intention this week will be PEACE. I will return to my peaceful place and protect my energy.
I am good. I am enough.

Happy New Year to all!
Here’s a little reminder for what I consider my “guard rails” for living in alignment with my values and how I want to live. Ground rules per se.
I don’t set resolutions—- haven’t for years! Instead I focus on how I want to feel. I align my actions to support this desired feeling.
This year my feeling word is ADORE. I’ve lost my connection to adoring myself. I’ve focused so much on surviving that I’ve forgotten to adore myself. My self-love muscle has atrophied!
I’ll be asking myself, “what do you need to feel adored?” Notice I said NEED versus WANT.
💗 I need to muffle my inner critic. Nona is too damn loud and strong!
💗 I need to remember that I am magical!
🚫 I don’t need external validation. This is all inside work— it’s my work.
Adore is defined as….
- loving admiration and devotion
- to honor as a divine creation
- to cherish and honor
- to hold with the utmost esteem

I’m grateful to wake up to food, shelter, employment, insurance, a fur baby, my family and friends.

What are my routines for a healthy mindset?
1. Set an intention or focus word on Monday.
2. Pause to celebrate something I love about myself on Thank Goodness I’m Fabulous Friday!
3. Move my body every day, preferably outside in the fresh air. Living in a condo with a big dog forces me walk several times a day.
4. When particularly stressed, I clean or create. Clean = orderly and back in control.
Create = free and unburdened.
5. Ask for help. If I feel myself dipping towards the darkness, I alert my support circle and ask them to check in on me.
6. Life is more about how you feel than how it looks. I focus on feeling healthy, grounded, impactful and authentic.
7. Surround myself with people who support my growth and appreciate my big personality. These are the people who are there to tell me the truth, hold space when I need to vent and kindly correct me when I go off the rails!
