‘It takes a whole village to raise a child!’ All of us at Peter Pan Schools are part of our community’s extended family of caregivers and educators. Quality caregiving is essential in nourishing a child’s mind and spirit; therefore, from infants to Pre-Kindergarten, we strive to provide positive and loving experiences for all of “our” children. Each time we welcome a child into our schools, we are entrusted with the most precious responsibility of all. That responsibility is to teach through example, to re-direct with love, and to promote respect for all people. Peter Pan Schools was planned, designed and structured to provide children ages 2 years to Pre-Kindergarten (Mariner Square location Infant Center: 6 weeks old to Pre-K) with a safe, healthy, and creative environment in which they can grow.

🎨 Big Box, Big Creativity! 📦
Box Painting Fun!

Our little artists had a wonderful time exploring paint in a big way! Instead of painting on traditional paper, the babies used their hands and brushes to spread colorful paint across cardboard boxes. They enjoyed feeling the paint, making marks, and watching the colors appear as they moved their hands across the boxes.

This open-ended art experience encouraged sensory exploration, creativity, fine-motor development, and self-expression. Each little handprint and brushstroke became part of their unique artwork! 💛💚💙

🌈🔬 Big colors, big curiosity! Today our little scientists became color detectives - mixing primary colors to watch new ones magically appear, testing what floats and what sinks, and squealing with delight over bubbly, fizzy reactions. Every drop and every “ooh!” was a lesson in cause and effect, hiding inside a whole lot of fun. That’s the beauty of hands-on science at this age: they’re not just watching color change. They’re discovering how the world works, one experiment at a time. 💚✨

🌈 Texture Crawling Adventure!

Today, our babies had fun exploring different textures through crawling! They crawled over cardboard, bubble wrap, foam, and soft fabric, using their hands and knees to feel the different textures 🖐️👶

This hands-on sensory experience encouraged sensory exploration, coordination, and gross motor development while giving our little ones lots of opportunities to move, explore, and have fun! 💕✨

🌿 Turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, oregano... our sensory table turned into a spice laboratory this week! 🔬

Our toddlers explored all five senses with spices, water, and color:

👀 Sight — swirling golden turmeric and deep red into clear water
👃 Smell — cinnamon, cumin, and Italian herbs, each one a new discovery
✋ Touch — gritty, powdery, flaky, soft. So many textures in one tray!
👂 Hearing — the swish of a brush, the scoop of a spoon, the tap of a jar
👅 Taste — talking about which spices show up in the foods we love

Sensory play like this builds vocabulary, strengthens fine motor skills, and invites children to ask “what happens if...?” That’s the beginning of scientific thinking. 🧠✨

And yes, it smelled amazing in here all morning! 😊

🎨 Big paper. Bold colors. Little hands at work! 🖌️

Our toddlers turned the backyard fence into a giant canvas this week. They started with a few red and yellow strokes, and by the end the paper was covered in color from every friend in the class. 💕

This is process art, where exploring matters more than the finished product. While they painted, our little artists were:
✨ Building fine motor skills with brushes and paint cups
✨ Discovering what happens when colors mix
✨ Sharing space and creating side by side with friends
✨ Expressing themselves freely, with no “right way” to paint

🎨 Rocks, paint, and very busy little hands!

Today our friends turned a table full of stones and wood slices into a rainbow. Every rock got its own color, its own swirl, and its own artist. Some painted carefully. Some painted the rock, the plate, and their fingers. All of it counts. 💗

What looks like a messy table is actually little ones building hand strength, exploring color mixing, and learning to work side by side. Nature + paint + curiosity = a very good morning.
