Hi friends! So while our lottery period for Fall Registration has ended, you may still sign up for classes - however, we'll be resolving those who signed up during the lottery period before we resolve later signups (because until we finish processing the lottery we don't actually know how much room exists anywhere!)
We'll hopefully get lottery spots resolved Friday or Saturday - but please do give us grace and patience. We had more than 400 submissions.

On that note, I do just want to say, that while we truly do our best to get as many kids involved as we can, I do know very well that we won't be able to include everyone. One of the more difficult things I've had to come to terms with since starting this whole project over a decade ago is the limitations we have in terms of just how many students we can handle and still do a decent job. And while trying to figure out new ways to involve more kids is a constant work in progress, at this particular point in the semester we'll need to be honest with ourselves that we are just human and can't do it all - much as we want to.
I hope very much that we get to see you and your kids in a TYR class at the end of this process. But if the luck doesn't turn that way, I am speaking from the heart when I say I'm still so grateful to consider you part of the TYR community and look forward to much to being able to see you in the next.

Okay, that's all for now. Lottery result news should be coming Friday or Saturday. If you signup for other stuff in the meantime you shouldn't expect instant feedback on space just yet. :)

Hi TYR Friends!
A quick reminder that our lottery period for Spring Registration ends tomorrow at 9am, so for best odds, please do submit your entry before then. :)
but while I'm writing (and before we are TRULY into the Spring Semester), I want to share one last word from our departing Production Manager Vanessa Hill. Vanessa gave me this letter for the TYR community at their farewell party, and I decided not to post it over the holiday weeks because I felt like folks wouldn't see it. But now that people are back at the computers a bit more, I'm sharing the images of it here.
Vanessa has been such a big part of TYR, and we're definitely gonna miss her, so here's one last goodbye from Vanessa before we launch into the entirety of 2026. :)

Happy New Year everybody!
We hope everyone has had a great holiday break. I'm writing now just to give a reminder that registration for our Spring Season will kick off MONDAY! at 9am January 5th.

As we typically do, we'll start with a 48 hr lottery period (which will end on Wednesday Jan 7th at 9am). The reason we do this is because historically some of our classes have filled VERY fast, and it's caused a situation where our classes can only be accessed by parents who can be at a working computer right at 9am and the stress of "click refresh click refresh click refresh"... and we don't want that. So everyone who signs up in that first 48 hr window has the same odds.
After that, things go to first come first serve, but historically many (though not all) of classes do fill to capacity during that period.
(You can watch a quick explainer of the lottery system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aycqiz6dci0 )

Important to Note: You will be allowed to rank your choices for class sections. If being with a friend is important to your student, you should discuss with their parents about how to rank the class times. Some class switching may be possible but cannot be guaranteed. And Please note that if you do not receive a confirmation of your form submission, it may mean that it did not go through.

Some common questions I get:
1) If I don't get into a class, is there a waitlist? Yes. We will place you on the waitlist for any class you signup for that you are unable to get into. And sometimes those waitlists DO move. It's hard to predict.
2) If I accept a spot in a class, can I remain on the waitlist for a different one? Yes. If you accept a spot for a class, but there is a different one that works better for you, you can stay on the waitlist for that class. A transfer is possible up until a certain date (usually just after the first class meeting for most of our stuff)
3) Can I take multiple classes? Taking multiple classes with us during a semester is possible, and many do so. But only one spot can be gotten through the lottery period, so a 2nd class tends to be one that is not filling to capacity so quickly. We love seeing you in multiple places, don't get me wrong, but since we are trying to serve as many kids as possible, we do operate on a "nobody gets seconds until everyone gets firsts" sort of philosophy.
4) Beyond signing up in the lottery, is there anything I can do to improve my odds of getting into a very impacted class? No, and very much by design. We actually run this intentionally blind, to prevent any possibility of bias. So as we put together lottery numbers, we don't even know who anyone is. We couldn't influence it even if we wanted to (which we don't - equal access is a very big deal to us. And while we haven't been able to create a system that I consider TRULY fair (because luck, by its nature, isn't inherently fair) we can at least do our best to ensure equality of chances within the lottery system. We don't want knowing us personally to create any extra influence as we want this to be an equal access program).
5) If I've been unable to get in during a different semester, is there any weighting toward me? At this time, no. This is a situation I'm very sympathetic to (because it can be frustrating - luck can be streaky). And we've talked about various ideas for this, but trying to make a system that accounts for past lottery success while maintaining the "blind" factor has been something of a failure whenever we've tried to game it out.
6) What about D&D? Signups for D&D are a little different, in that those aren't done on the same lottery system. For D&D, you fill out an interest form and we try to group you with other players and DMs with similar availability. Registration also starts on Monday, but it is indeed a bit of a different system. Entering the Lottery for another class won't impact your D&D odds in any way - they are almost independent processes. You can see more below.

If you have other questions, we'll be happy to answer, but this is the bulk!
