Alachua Learning Academy

When are we going to know how is this school year going to look like? Alachua School Board is not listing ALA as part of their distance learning program.
Hello all - my son, Shreev, would like to share his love of math with the community. He has created a youtube channel, he shows tricks to do problems faster, concepts he used to solve these problems, competition math problems for elementary, middle and high school students, riddles in a fun way. A good way to learn some problem solving during lockdown. Hope you subscribe to it.
Congratulations to my first 1st grade at ALA!! I’m so proud of all of you!! 🎉🌈🌸🎊❤️
My husband and I wanted to reach out in hopes to help the community playgrounds in this time of need...
Just learned that trunk or treat is cancelled due to "lack of interest" and today was the first time I had even heard about it. What a shame, because we were definitely interested.
I forgot to ask at meet the teacher— For kindergarten is everyday 8-1:45 or is it earlier on Wednesday’s?
Good morning this will be our first year here and I was wondering what the bell schedule was?
Will someone please send me the guidelines for the school uniforms?

Educating students to become exemplary citizens of the world with H.E.A.R.T.

The Alachua Learning Academy is a public charter school in Alachua County, charging no tuition or fees. We believe that our small school size combined with creative and inspired teachers results in higher student engagement and truly effective learning. This gives students an opportunity to meet their potential in interpersonal relationships and academic studies.

Mission: ALA is a H.E.A.R.T. based family that fosters our students' eagerness for lifelong learning, and their development of moral character and practical life skills, while preparing them to contribute as valuable members of our community.

Don’t forget It’s still teacher appreciation week ! It’s not too late to #thankateacher!

Dear teachers,

Thanks for all that you did today and everyday in your google classroom or zoom …
For making a million little split-second decisions for the benefit of your students.
For putting your own needs on hold and keeping them the focus of your day.
For planning for them long before today ever got rolling.
For changing those plans because they didn’t fit someone who needed a little extra. ( classroom assignments, paper packets, videos and giving extra time)
For smiling, laughing with them and reassuring their efforts, trials and mistakes.
For getting down on the physical level/ google meet or zoom for your students because it matters.
For thinking of a new way to reach someone who wasn’t getting it.( emails, remind, class dojo, FB groups, messengers, text, notes, songs, dance, scavenger hunts, brag wall, gifs, bitmoji, and phone calls)
You matter.

Instructional plan is now available on the district's website. It outlines how instruction will be provided after Spring Break (beginning March 30) but also has resources families can use right now.

[03/17/20]   Alachua County Public School families and staff:

Due to COVID-19 Florida Governor Ron Desantis has announced that students will not return to school until at least April 15.

Obviously this will have a huge impact on students, families, staff and the entire community. The Florida Department of Education will be providing more guidance over the next few days regarding graduation and other critical issues. As soon as we have more information, we will let you know.

We expect to begin providing for 'instructional continuity' for our students soon after Spring Break. We will notify you when we have those plans in place.

In the meantime, please know that ACPS will do all it can to support students, families and staff during this very, very challenging time.

School Closed March 16- March 27
COVID-19 Update

Dear Parents,
Alachua Learning Academy teachers and staff met yesterday to make sure our students do not fall academically behind. Although we have not yet received any mandates that our school must transition to a work-from-home curriculum, our teachers are ahead of the ball in preparing assignments and sharing resources that will be accessible to students while at home. Please be on the look out for communication from your child's teacher. Middle school students should check their ALA email accounts during the week, and submit previous assignments online.
Teachers and staff are working hard to deep clean the school this week inside and out.
Please continue to check as well as your email for updates regarding school scheduling and assignments.

FREE Coronavirus Relief Packs are now available for Preschool through 5th Grade. Each download includes worksheets, activities, songs, and videos for all subjects:

Late this afternoon, Florida Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran instructed all Florida public school districts to extend their spring breaks by an extra week. That being the case, Alachua County Public Schools will be closed from March 16th through March 27th. Currently the plan is to reopen schools on March 30th following deep cleaning of both schools & busses

We recognize the difficulty this will create for families, but based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, this step is needed to help safeguard the health and well-being of students, staff and the community.
Thank you for your patience and for your support of our schools.
