Going back to the beginning (Γ la David Lichman) to reset my liberty foundation so as to keep the girls closer in big open spaces and to correct my bad habits ... as well as to improve my liberty (and otherwise) relationships with FirenzΓ© & GiGi.

A STORY: a few days ago I was working in the aisle of the barn with FirenzΓ© when she asked me to scratch the inside of a hind leg. I did so a little bit, but then got back to training.
She asked again and this time I really wanted to focus on being a friend and for quite awhile scratched the inside of that leg; then she asked for the same with the other hind. I did so again and spent a lot of time there, too. Basically, I was helping the shedding process in the area ....which was probably the reason why it was so itchy for her. I only stopped when FirenzΓ© didn't ask anymore. I imagine before winter, when a new coat grows in, itβs just as itchy π€
So, what was interesting after that is that she gave me her absolute BEST efforts with what we were working on!!!! (topics: improving jambettes & Spanish walk as well as opening her mouth for dentist checks.) She also was willing and offered to go and go with whatever we were doing.

Then last night in this wonderful book I'm reading.... the same exact concept came up:
So happy for Barbara. She has been working so hard on her body after a bad injury sometime in early '25 (π§π¨π horse-related and before I met her). And, she has a wonderful physical therapist too who knew her goal of getting back riding. She got on initially 2 weeks ago...but she's getting stronger and stronger every time I see her. Here we're working a bit on relaxation and flow throughout (dancing and singing to the music). She and her horse, Gloria look great! So darn happy for her ππ΄
Helping GiGi with the flies...particularly the love bugs that had been driving her crazy. (The love bugs quite pervasive this year)

Such a beautifully humble horseman! This book shows empathy and provides learning throughout β€οΈ
Preparing for FirenzΓ©'s next dentist visit. (Last time FirenzΓ© wouldn't let the dentist take a good look and the wonderfully conservative dentist doesn't sedate to check her teeth as FirenzΓ©'s 26YO). Now on the next visit, the dentist should be able to see better as to FirenzΓ©'s dental health. Had the best time today helping a farmer move some cows. GiGi enjoyed it too; sheβs becoming quite the cow pony π

Some new liberty moves the girls and I are working on (I'm now learning from the 5-Star Master Parelli Professional who has a specialty in Liberty development: the wonderful teacher and super kind person, David Lichman). The learning from David is helping me keep the girls closer and more focused. Here there's a piece of us doing by 2's and back to solo and then sometimes up to 2's again. Still much improvement is needed but it's a start and oh so fun! This is now our early morning ritual before it gets hot βοΈ
