The 2026 Autumn in Akron Car Show is next Saturday, September 5 at Pike Memorial Park. Hosted by Akron Chamber of Commerce, the show benefits Akron Lions Club charity Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The Lions are raising funds to build beds for Akron area children in need. Participants must enter from Virgil Street and park on the soccer field. Registration is 10am to noon. Judging begins at 11am. Awards around 3pm. Wheels on Fire Cancer Crusaders is providing food and Jason Smith of DJ Sonic Party Sounds is providing music. This is a public community event for the whole family. All years, makes and models of any kind of vehicle are welcome. Top 3 each class, special interest trophies, Best of Show, cash prizes, raffle prizes, 50-50 drawing. All proceeds go directly to the charity. Lions Jim & Bonnie Steen, and Faith Kamp travelled with World Compassion Network to Gary, IN today to help with storm cleanup from the recent tornadoes that ripped through Northern Indiana. The entire area is still without power, lines & poles are laying across many road ways, and many homes were damaged with trees falling on them. Many families in this area were left devastated.

Where there is a need, there is a lion.

We had a celebrity at our bed build today….Ray Doering, the oldest Akron resident, turns 104! We celebrated him at our bed build by giving him a cake (which he was so excited about) and singing happy birthday. Help us wish Ray a wonderful 104th birthday!

Our youngest volunteer today was 4 years old, and our oldest was Ray at 104!

We can’t say thank you enough to our community for showing up for another successful bed build! 44 kids will now receive their own bed because of your hard work and generosity. We ended up having 101 volunteers and we built 44 beds. More photos will be posted once we receive them from our wonderful photographer, Alan Hollister!
