Poland Middle School Ski Club

Unfortunately and with a heavy heart poland middle school ski club is officially canceled.

This year we had 25 official members sign-up on the Boston Mills website. I had 27 sign up on the bus list at school. I have waited, as long as I possibly can to see if I received any phone calls for late joiners. At this time, I have only received one phone call of interest. I contacted our bus company that I am contracted with to see if they had any smaller buses. They do not. The transportation cost was based on 40 members. We are unable to pay for the transportation at this time based on 27, possibly 28 members. We are short $1,046.35. I have been the advisor for the Poland Middle School Ski Club for 7 years, keeping it through the years when I did not have a child in the program so that it would still be available to my daughter once she reached 7th and 8th grade and was eligible. I am saddened that her 8th grade year there was not enough interest to maintain the club. I have contacted Boston Mills. They have moved our first session to 1-12-19 hoping that would give us a little more time. They also offered to make us a car club. I think the distance that we travel, a car club is not in our best interest and myself as the advisor keeping track of 28 kids that show up at different times and could leave at different times is too large a challenge. She has agreed if we cannot pick up our totals that she will refund everyone's money. The bus company asked that I contact them by Monday to let them know if I am canceling. I would need to hear from 12-13 additional people that want to ski to have a club this year. I will be canceling ski club and the busing on Monday morning if this doesn't happen. On Monday, I will send another email letting you all a know a window when I will be home so that you can stop and pick up your transportation checks. At that time, you can let me know if you would rather I shred the check

As of right now we have 22 members signed up online at Boston Mills. I have 25 signed up in the office at the middle school. I will be checking the list and making the phone calls to those 3 members that are not signed up online. We need 40 members to pay for the transportation to Boston Mills. Online registration deadline is Wednesday December 19th, 2018. We can use paper after that, however if we do not have 40 members by the last day of classes before break unfortunately we will not be able to have a ski club at the middle school this year. Please tell your friends to sign up. It is a great learning program so that you are ready for the high school ski club!! Bigger places, bigger mountains. Think snow and lets get 40 members!

Unfortunately due to mother nature and 80% chance of rain all day long on Saturday, ski club is postponed this week 1-27-18. Skiing in the rain is not fun and I am worried the rain will make conditions icy. Enjoy the weekend.

Ski club for tomorrow 1-13-18 is cancelled. My bus company cancelled, they want the kids to be safe, as do I. We will now be skiing 1-20-18, 1-27-18, 2-3-18 and 2-10-18. Hopefully. Have a great long weekend!

First trip for 2018 ski club postponed until next weekend. Tomorrow 1-6-18 cancelled. Will add next weekend 1-13-18 as our first ski trip.

Last trip of 2017 tomorrow 2-11-17. It should be nice weather, not so cold. At the end of this trip you will keep your club cards. You can continue to use them on Saturday's from 9-4 as long as there is snow. They also can be used to purchase 4 $10 cards for one to four people to ski. PLEASE do not crowd around the door of the bus until we have boarded and are ready to check you in. I didn't get any cancellations so we are going to be a full bus. See you tomorrow!

Well good news and bad, good news first we didn't lose any bandannas this week, that is because I left them at home. Bad news is we had one small injury and no pictures. It is soooo hard to tell PMS skiers without the bandannas. I won't make that mistake again. Any issues please contact me through email or text me. Please, Please ,Please if your child is not coming on the trip please let me know in advance. We have a full bus and not very many chaperones. If I know I have extra seats I can add extra chaperones. Please, remember do not crowd around the bus, the chaperones have to load all the equipment and be ready to check every one in first. Have a great week! Thank you.

Well our first trip was successful, as we had no injuries. I have cancelled ski club for tomorrow. They have snow but I believe after this rain the conditions would be less than desirable. Plan on next week, January 28th. Have a great week!!
