We regret to inform you that our annual Chinese New Year Gala scheduled to take place this Friday, January 31, has been cancelled.

We have been made aware that individuals in the community may choose not to attend due to the timing of the event coinciding with the recent discovery of the coronavirus in the United States. We understand and respect the general sentiment and concern of our Chinese students and members of the local Chinese community toward what has been going on in Wuhan, China.

The event may be rescheduled for a future date to better accommodate performers and attendees.

Come celebrate Chinese New Year's with The University of Akron's Confucius Institute on Friday, February 8th. The "Spring Festival Gala" is from 6-9pm. Dinner begins at 6pm at the Akron Art Museum followed by the 8pm performance at the Akron Summit County Public Library. Tickets for this family friendly event are $5. Bring your family and friends, we hope to see you February 8th!
