Dr. Alexa Fox and Dr. Yuri Martirosyan have recently been named 2026-2027 Marketing Behavioral Research Fellows by the UAkron Marketing.

Fox's research focuses on digital marketing, consumer behavior and children's online privacy, helping shape more responsible marketing practices and safer digital experiences. Martirosyan's research examines consumer behavior, artificial intelligence, virtual influencers and emerging technologies, providing insights into how consumers make decisions in an evolving marketplace.

"The fellows’ research demonstrates how academic scholarship extends far beyond the University — advancing knowledge, informing practice and enriching our classrooms by ensuring our students learn from faculty who are actively shaping the future of marketing," said Dr. Vanja Djuric Zoric, department chair and professor of practice of marketing 💬

🎓 From intern to Territory Sales Manager!

Tiffany Whittaker, a double major in Marketing and Sales Management, has officially started her career with Solar Tint & Graphics, The Fisher Institute For Professional Selling corporate partner.

Tiffany first joined Solar Tint & Graphics as an intern and has since transitioned into a full-time role as Territory Sales Manager for the Dayton/Cincinnati area.

In her role, Tiffany manages existing customer relationships while continuously developing new business. Her days include prospecting, connecting with potential customers, setting appointments, identifying customer needs, and developing customized solutions and quotes.

Congratulations, Tiffany, on turning an internship opportunity into the start of an exciting career!

The College of Business welcomes Bill Kroll as the new director of The Fisher Institute for Professional Selling at The University of Akron!

Kroll brings more than 26 years of professional selling and sales leadership experience to the role, following a distinguished career with Colgate-Palmolive, where he held progressive leadership positions in sales, account management, business development and sales training. Over the past five years, he has brought that experience into the classroom, preparing students for careers in modern B2B sales.

"His leadership will strengthen our corporate partnerships and provide students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities that prepare them for successful careers," said Dr. Vanja Djuric Zoric 💬

Stephen Parker has officially launched his professional sales career at Forberg Smith (Kendall Group)!
 
A recent The University of Akron graduate with a double major in Marketing and Sales Management, Stephen is already making an impact. In his role, he works alongside the inside sales team to process customer orders, develop customized instrumentation solutions, and ensure customers receive the support they need. He also utilizes Salesforce to qualify sales leads while collaborating with teams across Kendall Group to deliver seamless service and drive business success.

Michael DeFilippo, a Sales Management major, is spending his summer as a sales intern with Pepperl+Fuchs, gaining hands-on experience in a global B2B environment.

Throughout the summer, Michael has learned about the company’s products, shadowed account managers on customer visits, observed sales and cold calls, collaborated with professionals across the organization, researched industrial applications for Pepperl+Fuchs technologies, and conducted market research on applications throughout Mexico.

One of the highlights of Michael’s internship has been traveling to customer sites, seeing industrial automation solutions firsthand, and even interviewing the company’s COO. These experiences have given him valuable insight into the realities of the business world and the many career opportunities available in B2B sales.

This summer, Lilly Smith, a Marketing major, is gaining hands-on experience at A Bride’s Design | Cleveland Bridal Shop as the Social Media & Marketing Intern.

In her role, Lilly manages the boutique’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, creating and publishing engaging content on a consistent schedule. She films and edits Reels and TikToks, photographs products, writes social media content, and helps bring the brand to life on camera.
 
Beyond content creation, Lilly monitors weekly analytics including reach, views, engagement, and bookings to refine the boutique’s content strategy, responds to customer interactions across multiple platforms, and supports paid social media advertising to expand audience reach. She also helps support boutique operations and the customer experience.
 
It’s exciting to see Lilly gain experience across so many areas of marketing while contributing to the boutique’s social media presence and customer experience.
