Hoban will launch a new pep band in fall 2026, reviving a spirited musical tradition not seen on campus in decades. Performing at select athletic and school events, the pep band will energize the student experience and further strengthen the Hoban community. 🥁
An informational meeting for interested students and families will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. in Hoban’s Moreau Ministry Hall. Those interested in learning more about joining the pep band are encouraged to attend and complete the interest form: https://forms.gle/sjGkU6cbv4zpNhkh8.
Open to all Hoban students, the pep band will be taught by Hoban alumnus John Zazo ’15, who, as a student, was a member of Hoban’s steel drum band and played the snare drum in Hoban’s drum line. While previous musical experience and basic instrument knowledge are preferred, beginners are welcome to participate.
“We have many passionate musicians in our student body, and I want to give them another space where they have more opportunities to perform throughout the school year,” Zazo said. “Pep band is a perfect medium for such a space since we will be performing during our home games to support our student-athletes.”
Mr. Zazo will also host a welcome meeting on Thursday, July 23, from 3–4 p.m. in Moreau Ministry Hall. Regular pep band rehearsals will take place every Thursday at 3 p.m., with the first rehearsal scheduled for Thursday, July 30.

Four seniors delivered their final Senior Project presentations today after spending two weeks shadowing professionals in the fields they plan to pursue after graduation.
Sarah Cook and Danielle Ferree completed their projects at Akron Children’s Hospital, Kailee Hicks shadowed at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center and JP Parisi gained hands-on experience with the Akron RubberDucks.
During their presentations, each senior shared gratitude for the professionals who welcomed and mentored them throughout the experience. Their Senior Projects provided invaluable insight into their future careers, opportunities to build meaningful professional connections and a real-world glimpse into life in their chosen fields.

Today officially marked the final day of school for the Class of 2026!
We began the day with the traditional Alumni Senior Breakfast, where more than 50 Hoban graduates joined us to celebrate and officially welcome the Class of 2026 into the Hoban Alumni Association. We then gathered for the final all-school Mass of the year, celebrated by the Rev. David Stavarz ’10. Finally, the senior class carried on another beloved tradition by painting the HOBAN letters on the hillside.
There is so much to celebrate with this remarkable group of young adults. We are incredibly proud of the people you are becoming and cannot wait to see where your journeys lead next.
See you Sunday at the Akron Civic Theatre!
