Prince Wi******er seeks to 'take the next step' as Akron Firestone quarterback!
Thank Akron Beacon Journal for recognizing our Falcon Quarterback who looks to build upon last season-
Firestone senior Prince Wi******er proved to be a dual-threat quarterback last season in helping the Falcons advance to the Division II playoffs.
Wi******er is entering his third season as the Falcons starting quarterback in 2022 and has several goals for his team.
Winning a City Series championship and playoff games are two of the primary goals, and in order to reach those objectives he is taking a basic approach to the field.
"We want to start off 1-0," Wi******er said." We take it one practice at a time and one game at a time."
Prince Wi******er among top QBs in area:Who are Greater Akron's top high school football quarterbacks? Here are 10 to watch
Wi******er provided a spark last year as Firestone posted a 4-7 overall record and a 3-2 City Series mark.
Wi******er completed 134-of-183 passes for 1,287 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games in 2021. He also totaled 157 carries for 1,097 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Firestone quarterback Prince Wi******er, left, celebrates after his rushing touchdown with Leeland Bucey during the third quarter of a football game, Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, in Akron, Ohio.
"We are looking for Prince to take the next step," Firestone football coach Eric Mitchell said. "He has taken charge of the offense. He is familiar with the offense. He knows the ins and outs of it and gets people in the right places now. If we decide to pass the ball, he feels confient as well as the staff feels confident in him that he can make plays through the air.
"Then, of course, with his feet and the run game, he is going to be a valuable part of that. I am not going to discourage him from running."
Firestone graduated 17 seniors off of last year's team that lost to Cleveland Benedictine in the playoffs and tied Kenmore-Garfield and Buchtel for second in the City Series with 3-2 records. East (5-6) won the City Series title with a 5-0 league mark.
Let’s Go Firestone!
Our Harvey S. Firestone CLC Falcons Football Outlook per the Akron Beacon Journal-

Outlook:
Firestone returns Wi******er at quarterback, and Jones, Carter and Harris have starting experience along the line on offense. Bucey and Peterson are expected to be Firestone's top two running backs. Boykin and Alford figure to be leading receivers for the Falcons.
Jones, Alford, Burr and Hargrove lead the Falcons defense up front. Bucey and Humphrey are impact linebackers, Wi******er is the free safety, Jones is a top cornerback and Herring is the strong safety.
"The offensive and defensive lines are going to be the strong points of our football team," Mitchell said. "We have some physical guys, we have some size and we have some experience so we feel like we are going to be able to run the ball effectively offensively and we feel like we are going to be able to stop people in the run game on the defensive side of the ball.
"... We are excited. We are excited about the opportunity that Firestone has this season in football."
Let’s Go Firestone!!

Another great addition to the Activity Gym Harvey S. Firestone CLC. The new 11’ tall Falcon completes the gym giving it some character, what a difference a year makes!
We’re appreciative of Tom and Eric from APS Carpentry who installed the new Falcon, moved the Firestone Pennant, while also installing the remainder of the Team Boards in The Nest!
This is all in an effort to create ownership of our school. When other schools come to compete, they know they’re in Falcon territory-

We're happy to announce Brian Neugebauer as the new Boys Basketball Coach!
A 1991 Firestone graduate, "Neuge" comes from Buchtel where he led the Lady Griffs to four City Championships & a District Championship during his 10 years as coach. Coach and his staff will be dedicated to helping our student-athletes, first in the classroom and secondly on the basketball court. The goal is always to excel at a high level, return Firestone Basketball to excellence, and maintain high standards. Coach's primary goals and emphasis are to use the game of basketball as a tool to teach life lessons to our youth and help them prepare to be more successful, safe, and happy adults.
"It’s a great feeling to be home at Firestone. We’ve been working hard so far this summer and we’re looking forward to the ongoing improvement and growth of this team. I am very excited of what is to come."
Welcome home, Neuge!
Looking good Firestone Natatorium. A little Falcon branding in the pool looks sharp!
Pool tattoos such as this one are made from recycled pool liners and adhere to the bottom via hydrostatic pressure. They look good and can brand any pool.
This Falcon Pool Tattoo was donated to our Falcon Swimmers by our friends at Slick Woody’s Co****le in North Canton.
The new Firestone Falcon Alma Mater and tribute to Jayden and Ethan is up on the south wall in the ATC. This banner was inspired by this year’s Softball Team who sang the Firestone Alma Mater after every practice and every game win or lose.
The banner further creates contrast needed for both baseball and softball indoor practices.
The banner furthers the consistency with branding in our gyms, basketball court, baseball/softball fields, pool, fitness center, track, and football/soccer fields.
It lastly reinforces Falcon Values and with further school pride which we call .
One more enhancement coming in the next few weeks to the ACT….👀
Here is a run down of Firestone Falcon All Sports Boosters and what we collectively, with your support, have been able to accomplish in our 4 years of existence:
$50,000 strength training facility for our student athletes, strength training workshops for our coaches, all signage & branding in the main gym & ACT gym, all signage in HOF Hallway, continued equipment and training upgrades based upon coaches feedback, equipment for Kyle Harper (our trainer) to better take care of our athletes, batting cages, golf hitting pad and net attachments for the batting cages, backpacks for tennis, entry fees for boys & girls basketball shootouts & tournaments in the summer, a $1200 riding mower for the soccer program, numerous financial assistance for different teams needs including uniforms, meals & food for athletes, baseball field project, soon to be Shatto field dugout covers, all HOF plaques & signage for the inductees, financial contributions to different FCLC programs like robotics, media backdrops for athletics & general school use, we will be giving out two cheer camp scholarships to two different cheerleaders, soccer, track & field, and football signage on the outdoor sheds, the "rock" in front of FCLC, memorials honoring student athletes Jayden Shippe and Ethan Liming who we have recently lost, and more than that.
That is an impressive list. A list of needs facilitated through only two fundraisers a year 1. Reverse Raffle 2. Firestone Athletics Golf Outing. Your participation in these two signature events allows us to cover costs where Akron Public School money falls short. We continue to provide for our Student Atheltes in order to provide them the best we can offer within financial reason.

Harvey S. Firestone CLC Swimming represented well at the Greater Akron High School Sports Awards! Jonny Marshall and Molly Rogers won Male and Female Swimming and Diving Athlete of the year.
Our athletic trainer, Kyle Harper, presented the Character Award for Akron Children’s Hospital. Go Falcons!
We at FFASB have had people ask “what do you do with the money you raise”? Great question!
The money that is raised on behalf of our Student Athletes goes directly to capital improvement and projects where APS Athletics budget ends. Additionally, common needs across teams are identified to make sure we are best leveraging resources. At times specific teams have needs due to forseen circumstances at which point FFASB can offset costs.
Your support of Firestone and our Student Athletes is crucial in providing resources to our programs.
Our next project will be Softball dugout structures at Shatto Field.
Please see the two year Dave Marshall Field revamp in the accompanying pictures. This project was a labor of love brining multiple community partners together towards a common goal of providing needed upgrades and a safe field for both players and spectators.

From Harvey S. Firestone CLC Athletic Trainer Kyle Harper:
** A reminder to everyone that when the temperatures start to get in the 90's with high humidity, please be mindful to prevent heat related injuries.
Ways you can to stay ahead of heat related injuries:
1. Increase water breaks 4 per hour, 4 minutes each-
2. Decrease equipment (football as an example)
3. Limit practice to 2 hours with breaks as identified in #1
Heat injuries are preventable when being proactive!
This evening members of the Falcon Community, families, friends, peers, teammates, and coaches came to Dave Marshall Field to support the Liming Family.
Noah Liming honored his brother by playing Right Field for his 14U Akron Sun Devils in the 1st Inning of tonight’s game. Noah played under the new sign signifying Ethan’s position and number as a member of the Firestone Varsity Baseball Team.
Thank you Falcon Nation for your love and continued support of the Liming Family during this time. We love and miss Ethan dearly-
