Just a reminder. No meeting this week. Our dinner meeting for the month of Sept has been move back a week. It's scheduled at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 17th. Also, this month we'll be holding the event at a new location, Ray's Place, which is located across from Summit Mall at 25 Ghent Road, Fairlawn OH 44333. Please joins us next month as we try out a new venue.

There is no meeting scheduled for the month of August. The next dinner meeting of The Greater Akron Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is scheduled at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 17th. Please mark down the date on your calendars as this is one week later than we typically have our meetings. The Akron Alumni Chapter of Sigma Chi would like to officially invite everyone to the upcoming Fall Formal Dinner and wine tasting! The event will be held at Papa Joe's Italian restaurant in Akron on Saturday October 11th, 2014. It's going to be a semi-formal evening where we'll gather for dinner, drinks and a fantastic guest speaker. All brothers and their significant others are invited.

Please mark your calendars and hope to see you all in October!

Some great ideas out there for Winter event(s): Superbowl party, Wine Tasting, Theater, Basketball game, and Happy Hour! Also, if anyone had a charity they donate their time to, please share!

The next dinner meeting of The Greater Akron Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is scheduled at 6:30pm on Wednesday, Sept 11th. It will be held at our usual location, Beau's Grille, located in the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn Hotel at 3180 W. Market Street.

On the agenda for the September meeting, we'll be opening up discussions for the fall and winter event schedule. If you'd like to help with planning or have an idea for a future outing, come join the group and help with planning.

August Social - Akron Aero's Game

The chapter is having it's summer social event at the Akron Aero's game on Friday August 16th at 7:05PM. The event is open to all area brothers and their family's.

If you'd like to join us, we'll be meeting outside the stadium prior to game time, about 6:45PM, and purchase tickets as a group. I believe that tickets are $10.

Don't forget, Friday is Fireworks Night at the stadium, so following the game there will be an Elvis themed fireworks show!

The next dinner meeting of The Greater Akron Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is scheduled at 6:30pm on Wednesday, January 9th. My apologizes for the confusion in the last email, which indicated the date to be January 14th.

The Greater Akron Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is switching to a bi-monthly meeting schedule. Because the summer is a busy time, we are going to start by taking the month of August off and holding our next meeting in September.

This sets the meeting schedule for the rest of the year as follows:

The Greater Akron Alumni Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity would like to invite all area brothers to our Annual Alumni Dinner at the Fairlawn Country Club (200 N. Wheaton Road, Fairlawn, Ohio) on Saturday, July 14, 2012.

At the annual dinner, many Akron area brothers will be recognized as Semi-Century Sigs. This award is given to brothers who have worn the White Cross of Sigma Chi for fifty years or more.

We will also hear a report on the June meeting of the Grand Council, which for the first time, will have met in Cleveland, Ohio.

Reservations are due by July 6th, 2012.
