Job Posting for the 2026/2027 School Year!!
Akron UMC Head Start is accepting applications for 2 positions:
Bus Monitor/Classroom Floater:
Non-Exempt/Part-Year/Full-Time position (can be converted to a Part-Time position if needed) – Support transportation operations, have responsibility for supervising children and implement safety rules on the bus. Support and assist the classroom staff in providing comprehensive educational services to Head Start children and maintain a cooperative relationship with other center personnel.
Qualifications:
• Experience working with 3, 4, & 5 year olds; preferred but not required
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Have a valid CO Driver’s license. Ability to work with diverse families of socioeconomic status and various cultural backgrounds. Pass background check through TRAILS for child abuse/neglect, CBI, FBI criminal records check and the following trainings prior to being with children: First Aid, CPR, Standard Precautions, FEMA, Child Abuse Training.
Hourly pay based on experience (entry level $16.27), employs at 9 months of the year. Benefits include: Health and Dental insurance, Life insurance, Retirement, and paid leave. A $500 Sign-on Incentive is offered at the conclusion of a satisfactory completion of a 90-day probationary period.
Receptionist:
Non-Exempt/Part-Year/Part-Time position (can be converted to a Full-Time position depending on candidate preference and open positions) – Assist and support Administrative staff by opening the center, cover the front desk by answering phone calls, greeting families/visitors, and completing a variety of administrative/secretarial duties. The position requires strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills; with the ability to work independently or as a team.
Qualifications:
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Highly sensitive and compassionate for children and families, preferred but not required
• Bilingual (English & Spanish), preferred but not required
