We hope everyone has had a wonderful first few weeks of the semester and have gotten a chance to settle. This week the National SSA is having their annual Ask an Atheist day on the 15th! Weather permitting, you can bet we will be out there showing how good we can be without god(s) and reaching out to like minded people. We will be on campus from 11-4 on the 13th and 14th. Feel free to pop by and ask us questions or be a part of the fun!

We are halfway through the remaining summer semester! As the summer wraps up, we plan to be as active as the freshmen finding their classes this upcoming fall to promote awareness of the people's religious (or lack of) rights under the law and the separation of church and state.
We have events up our sleeves, speakers being befriended, and more fun to come. What we want however is to hear how YOU want your rights remembered and promoted! Don't be afraid to comment below or message us of ideas you want to see us put into action.

Response to ‘A bad showing for students’ 10/04/2016

Response to ‘A bad showing for students’ I read [the Buchtelite’s editorial of Sept. 29 called “A bad showing for students”] because it focused on that group. The one that comes on campus every semester since I attended (and before). The group that ignites fear and frustration, debates and fights, among the community. My experiences were o...

Hey SSA peeps!
The Philosophy club is hosting a guest speaker on campus, and they have invited all you wonderful people to attend (it's free). Here's the information I was given:

Dr. Neil Sinhababu (http://www.neilsinhababu.com/) from the National University of Singapore will be presenting Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at 6:00pm in the Auburn Science and Engineering Center (ASEC) room 122.

His talk is titled "Scalar Consequentialism the Right Way" where he will argue how the rightness of actions fits on a continuous scale, even though we do not use the words "righter" and "wronger". He will outline and defend a version of scalar consequentialism, according to which the rightness of action is a matter of degree, determined by how good the consequences are.

The link attached to his name at the beginning of the email will take you to his home page, where you can find links to Tedx talks, blogs, research papers, and other information regarding our guest.

Please feel free to invite all of your members and friends who are interested in ethics or philosophy in general.
