Delta Omega Chapter

We would like to take a moment to congratulate all of those who were recently inducted into the Delta Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. We would also like to congratulate all of those who were nominated by their peers and received awards. We look forward to another great year, and we hope to see everyone at our New Member Orientation tonight, April 22, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the University of Akron in Mary Gladwin Hall Room 208.

On Tuesday of last week, we were fortunate enough to be able to host Dr. Karrie Boss from Summa Health’s Center for Clinical Inquiry when she gave a talk on Evidence-Based Practice. The talk featured a presentation and Q/A period that was available to attendees both virtually and in person! Thank you to the over 60 individuals who attended this event; we hope you walked away with a better understanding of the role Evidence-Based Practice plays in nursing. Summa Health

The Director of Evidence Based Practice at Summa Health Systems, Dr. Karrie Boss, will be speaking on Evidence Based Practice on Tuesday, February 20th in MGH 111 from 7:30pm-8:30pm. For the third year in a row, Delta Omega partnered with Zip Assist and Campus Cupboard to collect toiletries and non perishable items for University of Akron students. Thank you to all of those who donated!

This holiday season, Delta Omega is again partnering with Zip Assist to collect food and personal hygiene items for the University of Akron Campus Cupboard. Please consider donating to assist your fellow Zips in need. The collection bin can be found in Mary Gladwin Hall room 101.

On September 29, Delta Omega members Aris Eliades, Tammy Ferguson and Diane Lorenzen provided 56 hot grab and go lunches for the community at OpenM. Volunteers are needed for the next hot lunch Delta Omega is scheduled to provide on September 27, 2024. Another volunteer opportunity is to help with Mountain of Food, a bulk distribution of foods on the 3rd Friday of the month from 9-11am.

The Delta Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau had the opportunity to partner with OPEN M Ministry to prepare and provide hot boxed lunches to citizens within the Akron community last week.

We would like to take a moment to congratulate all of our recent inductees into the Delta Omega Chapter, as well as all of those who were honored for their contributions to the nursing profession.

As a Chapter, we would like to say thank you to everyone from The University of Akron School of Nursing who helped us give back to Zip Assist's Campus Cupboard this past holiday season. We would also like to thank Summa Health's T3 MICU Staff for joining us in this donation drive.

Zip Assist's Campus Cupboard supplies both food and personal hygiene products to University of Akron students on a weekly basis with no proof of income.
