On July 23rd, TRIO employees were invited to join a Choose Ohio First Summer Bridge Faculty and Staff Mixer. Featured in the photo are some of our TRIO students who won the Choose Ohio First Scholarship and are attending The University of Akron this Fall.

This event consisted of the students giving an elevator speech to all employees and intermingling with collegiate professionals. It was a great time to reconnect and see our TRIO students in action.

Choose Ohio First is a state-funded scholarship program administered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to support students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering,and Mathematics,otherwise known as STEM.

🍎 Free Food Distribution at The University of Akron – July 23rd

College expenses can add up quickly, and for many students and families, groceries become one more challenge to manage. That's why The Salvation Army of Summit County Area Services is proud to provide free food to students and community members experiencing food insecurity in partnership with University of Akron.

On Friday, July 10, STEP attended the Rubberducks game. A student and an employee caught balls that went into the stands. The Rubberducks won. And the fireworks were amazing. Great time by all.

But the true meaning is that there are true career opportunities in baseball in addition to being a player, a coach, or an umpire. 😎👏

Think about these careers:
