Throwback Thursday: Greek Life Day March 3rd. The University of Akron Greek Life introduced to TRIO a meet and greet, a great Step show, and information about Greek Life.

The benefits are endless: friendships, events, leadership opportunities and growth, academic support, scholarship opportunities and resume builder activities. Think about Greek Life at your college when it is time!

The Akron Urban League awarded scholarships to many from the AAP Department and our students are moving forward with their college careers. If you are not involved in the Akron Urban League please think about joining their Scholar's Academy before your Senior year of high school.

Wonderful Wednesday Video. On April 2nd Educational Talent Search held their Senior Banquet and celebrated with a slideshow and amazing food catered by Aramark. Educational Specialist Ms. Lambing read a poem that was written from the heart.

The STEP program experienced their year-end banquet on April 30th. We acknowledged our 8th graders moving on to High School and we inducted twenty five 6th graders. We honored Mary Williams, our former STEP program director, with the Excellence in Service Award. Emma Barna received an Excellence in Academic Achievement Award. Dr. Joseph Boetang, former STEP Academic Advisor, received the Excellence in Leadership Award. It was a great night.

Join us for May Day for Mental Health, a community conversation focused on awareness, support, and connection. This free Su***de Prevention Symposium on May 1 brings together youth, families, educators, and community partners for meaningful dialogue, resources, and learning opportunities.

APS students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to wear green all day on May 1 to show support and help raise awareness for mental health across our schools and community.

👕👚 Free Clothing Giveaway – Tomorrow! 👚👕

The Salvation Army Akron & Summit County is hosting a FREE Clothing Giveaway tomorrow to help care for our neighbors in the community. If you or someone you know could use extra essentials, we invite you to stop by.

📅 Date: April 17, 2026
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: 1033 Bellows St., Akron, OH 44302

We will have clothing for all ages — children, teens, and adults — along with a selection of bed frames, hats, bags, scarves, and more.

Our hope is that everyone who comes finds something helpful and leaves encouraged, knowing they are cared for.
