On Friday May 1st, we recognized two groups for Excellence in Campus-Community Collaboration. First, we honored Dr. I-Chun Tsai (a new ACE Scholar) and her work with the Hudson City School District on Goose Bot - a prototype of a robot that could help clean up goose waste in public parks.

Secondly, we awarded the City of Akron Youth Violence Intervention and Prevention Team this award. Dr. Stacey Nofziger worked with Dr. Allyson Drinkard and the City of Akron during an [Un]class on Program Evaluation and another sociology course to interview Akron area organizations that are doing violence prevention work. Nofziger's students hosted their own poster presentation last semester, and are continuing research with the City of Akron.

At this year's EX[L] Awards, we honored our Disconnected Communities Team with the Excellence in Community-Engaged Scholarship Award. Drs. Hillary Nunn and Shanon Donnelly taught two separate [Un]classes focused on the Akron Innerbelt and the community that it destroyed. Donnelly's class used GIS to map the businesses and houses that are no longer there, using information that Nunn's class learned from the UA Archives. Archivists Mark Bloom and Hannah Kemp-Severance were also recognized, alongside students Sienna Hodge and Ethan Rang for their work on these projects.
