I have very sad news to give you. Ted Mallo, who hosted our 60th class reunion a few weeks ago, soon after had a heart attack and passed away Sunday, October 9th, 2022. Below is information about his calling hours and services.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 3204 Ridgewood Drive, Fairlawn. A private burial for the immediate family will follow the service. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel on Friday, October 14 between 3 to 8 p.m. at 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. Should friends desire, gifts honoring Ted's memory may be directed and mailed to The Mallo Family Scholarship Fund at The University of Akron, 375 E. We'll be giving each class member attending our reunion a commemorative package of South High items and a DVD of our walk through of our building, now known as Miller South School for Visual Performing Arts.

The deadline (August 31, 2022) is fast approaching. We need to get your reservation and check by that date so we can plan for our food purchases. If you plan to attend, please get your check mailed in.

An updated cost estimate for renovation of several Akron school buildings, including Miller South High, has risen significantly, so the future of our old building is still uncertain.

The date of our reunion is coming closer. In order to properly plan and order the food for the reunion, we need to get a head count of all the people planning to attend. If you haven't responded and plan to attend, please respond with a letter and enclosed check to Dennis Brinton using the address that was in our previous e-mail correspondence. The Akron Rubber Ducks AA baseball team playing the Bowie Baysox on September 18th. Our team is the local affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians (Indians) and play in a delightful stadium downtown.

Paul Evans and I did a video walk through of the Miller South School for Visual and Performing Arts. Our South High building was closed for a few years until it was transformed into this new school. Our video walk through shows how well maintained our building is and how innovative and exciting the Miller South School is. We'll have the video(s) available at our reunion.
