ISD #1 - Aitkin Public Schools

The Aitkin Public Schools provides public education for students, birth through 12th grade.

Support for Summer meals

Did your child participate in free or reduced-price school meals? Because schools are closed, a new program can help provide a food benefit, take a moment to apply for P-EBT.

The Department of Health Services (DHS) recently reported that many families that qualify have not yet enrolled – and it’s estimated that, as of July 10, 409 children attending Aitkin Secondary and Rippleside Elementary are eligible, but not yet enrolled.

No ID or registration is required to participate. Text "Summer Meals" to 97779, or download the app; Free Meals for Kids or go to www.mn.p-ebt.org to apply today

Transportation Survey Fall of 2020-2021

Attention: Parents of Aitkin Public School Students!

We are back with another Parent Survey. I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to answer a few short questions regarding transporting students to and from school in the fall if we are open with students in our buildings. If we are able to have students in the building it will pose some busing challenges as we work to maintain social distancing. Please take the time to answer the questions in the survey. Thanks again and I appreciate your support of ISD#1! Dan Stifter, Superintendent

Apply for P-EBT (Pandemic EBT)

The Minnesota Department of Human Services is now offering additional funds for the families of children ages 5 to 18 who qualify for free and reduced-price meals. This new program, called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT), will provide $325 per child that families can use to purchase nutritious food for their household. Families with children who received free or reduced-price meals at school, and who were between the ages of 5 and 18 on September 1, 2019, may qualify. Benefits are available to two groups:
• Families receiving Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on March 18, 2020. Benefits for these families were issued automatically and appeared on their EBT balance on May 30, 2020. These families do not need to take any further action.
• Families receiving free or reduced-price school meals, but not SNAP or MFIP benefits. These families need to fill out a short application for a P-EBT card. Families can apply between June 8, 2020, and June 30, 2020. If approved, families will receive a P-EBT card in the mail, which will arrive with the funds preloaded.
Families in need of assistance accessing or using their P-EBT benefits are urged to contact the P-EBT Hotline at 651-431-4050 or 800-657-3698.
If your family or someone you know needs additional ongoing assistance accessing healthy foods, please contact your local tribal or county human services office, visit ApplyMN, or call the Minnesota Food HelpLine at 888-711-1151.

May 28, 2020

We are one day away from Graduation 2020! There has been a lot of preparation done on many different fronts to get to this point! Thanks to all the people who have stepped up to make this happen for our graduating class.

At 6:45 on Friday May 29th, we will start to bring the vehicles onto Veterans Field so we can be set and ready for Graduation at 7:00. Once again Graduates and their families are encouraged to decorate their vehicles for the ceremony and for the parade.

I want to share with everyone the Audio and Video links that are available to friends and families so they can listen to or watch Aitkin Public Schools 2020 Graduation . Both KKIN 94.3 and B 93.3 will be broadcasting our ceremony on their respected radio stations. They will also be live streaming their broadcast as well.

You will be able to access KKIN’s livestream broadcast at: https://network1sports.com/station/kkin and click on the listen live.

You will be able to access the B-93 livestream broadcast at: www.todaysbestcountry.com and click on listen now.

If you want to watch the Graduation Ceremony, it will be video streamed on YouTube at the following link: https://youtu.be/wrOtpdYSRUs

Thanks to our local radio stations and the sponsors for making these broadcast possible. It is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

We hope you can tune into the 2020 Graduation Ceremony and be a part of this historic night for ISD#1 and the class of 2020.
