To kick off a unit on Changes in Ecosystems, the fifth graders had a guest speaker via Zoom. Amanda Hefner from the Nature Conservancy’s Niobrara Valley Preserve described how the area along the Niobrara River was affected by the 2012 Fairfield Creek fire that burned over 66,000 acres. We learned that the grassland recovered quickly, but the Ponderosa pine trees were so badly damaged that they won’t come back on their own anytime soon. We thank Amanda for spending some time with us today!
Due to not having school next week and keeping students out of the building as much as possible, we will NOT run either our Girls or Boys Skills camp this Saturday (November 21st). Thank you for understanding. Please help spread the word!

In addition to masks, face coverings such as "neck gaiters" are fine as well. Thank you again for your help and support in this matter.
We have seen a significant increase in covid related isolation and quarantine due to covid. To date we have 10 staff members and 31 students affected and that number is likely to increase.
Therefore, we will be moving to a K-4 mask mandate as of Monday, Nov 16th. Attached is a letter from Mr. Childers. Please read the letter that explains the situation and more information on this matter.
Thank you for your continued support. We want to get on top of this situation and it will slow down for us as soon as we have a few days under the mask mandate for all of K-12.
If anyone has any questions, please let us know.
