Very proud of Dr. Fowler!
Congratulations to Dr. Michael Fowler, professor of art at UofSC Aiken, on the recent publication of his book, "Calling the Fleeting Breath: Glimpses of Abraham Lincoln's Personae Through Art and Material Culture."
The striking 180-page book is the culmination of 21 years of research and explores the various artistic depictions of Lincoln dating from his presidency to modern day.
Dr. Fowler will be hosting a book talk on September 28 at the Aiken Center for the Arts from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Congrats to our recent alum, Samantha Vigoya, on her illustrations for Brock Gilliam's second published children's book, "Dog-Dog Stays Home!"
"Vigoya, a 2021 UofSC Aiken alum, illustrated "Dog-Dog Stays Home." She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts and specializes in studio and digital art with a special interest in portraits and character design. "Collaborating with Gilliam has opened up the door for me to become an established illustrator. I hope to take on more opportunities like this in the future," she said."

Welcome back Pacers! Visit the Etherredge Center Gallery to see our first exhibitions of the school year!
Join us for an artist talk and ICE event on Tuesday August 31st at 11:30 am in the lower gallery. Jacki Mayo Van D**e will speak about her artistic process and inspiration behind the work currently on display. There will be time for a Q&A after her talk. Bring your lunch and get your first ICE credit for the semester! Jacki’s artwork will be on display until September 17th.
In the upper gallery the exhibition, “Back to School,” features paintings and drawings by our community painters: Amy Ness, Gail Ebner, Joya Jiménez DiStefano, Lauren Faulk and Rich Klein. These pieces focus on life during the pandemic, current social issues and finding the beauty where we live.
The Etherredge Center Gallery is located at 471 University Parkway, Aiken SC. It is open Monday – Thursday : 8:30 am – 6:00 pm, Friday : 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday.
