๐๐๐ Safety Alert ๐๐๐
โResignationโ is one of the most dangerous mindsets in aviation.
It sounds like:
โWhatโs the use?โ
"This always happens.โ
โI canโt change it anyway.โ
But in the cockpit, that attitude can quietly erode situational awareness, decision-making, and safety margins.
Every flight demands engagement, curiosity, and the willingness to act โ even when things arenโt going as planned.
The antidote? โIโm not helpless โ I can make a difference.โ
Stay sharp. Stay proactive. Lives depend on it.

๐๐๐Safety Alert ๐๐๐
A good role model for hazardous attitudes in Aviation can be seen in the popular movie series Top Gun.
Maverick, the main character, frequently pushes airplanesโ๏ธ to the limit in order to prove himself as the superior fighter pilot, ultimately leading to more harm than good.
Does this remind you of a certain hazardous attitude? How about Machoism ๐.
Always remember that "Taking Chances is Foolish." Demonstrating an inverted, flat, accelerated spin to your friend to prove that you can isn't the smartest idea.
(And if you can demonstarate an inverted, flat, accelerated spin, let us know in the comments!)

๐๐๐Safety Alert๐๐๐
"I can get through this bad weather to go home"
"I dont need to worry about a preflight every single time I fly"
"Don't worry about topping off the tanks, we should have plenty of fuel for the flight back"
Do any of these sound familiar? Have you heard a pilot make a questionable decision with severe consequences?
Believing you are invulnerable from accidents is a dangerous game to play, especially when it comes time to cash in that check.
So how do we correct ourselves from this hazardous attitude? By understanding that no one is immune from accidents. The popular anicdote "it CAN happen to you" is a mantra that helps pilots be safe every single flight.
It's what separates being proactive to a situation, and being reactive to an emergency.
Being confident in your piloting skills is also knowing when to not tempt fate. Follow checklists, don't take unnecessary risks, understand we are not invincible.

๐๐๐Safety Alert๐๐๐
This month we will focus on the five Hazardous Attitudes ๐ฑ๐คฌ๐ญ๐๐ค and their impact on us as we fly.
Have you ever felt yourself rushing through a preflight to make it back home before a storm?
Or accidentally skipping some items while briefing an approach?
You may be experiencing Impulsivity!
Defined in Chapter 2-5, Figure 2-4, of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronuatical Knowledge (PHAK), Impulsivity is "The attitude of people who frequently feel the need to do something, anything, immediately."
Sometimes we feel the need to rush certain items in order to stay on schedule, or to make up for lost time (sometimes referred to as Get-There-Itis). Unfortunately this may lead to forgetting important steps while completing a checklist, or miscommunication to ATC and other pilots.
How do we solve it? Take your time, slow down, THINK FIRST...
Allow yourself the time to complete items as intended instead of rushing. Ask your CFI or ATC to slow down so you can understand them. Build in a buffer if you are running late or communicate to passengers that aviation is not an exact science and delays can happen.

๐๐๐ Safety Alert ๐๐๐
As we wrap up our first Safety Alert month over The Impossible Turn, it is important to remember that proper training and discussion with a Certified Flight Instructor can and will make you a better pilot.
We can not guarantee how the Impossible Turn will work 100%, however we can see if it is in fact possible using our simulator.
Join us as we explore three different engine failures; from below 500ft AGL, 500-1,000ft AGL, and above 1,000ft AGL, while utilizing our Before Takeoff emergency briefing and see it in "real life"!
We are thankful to have this simulator to allow us a chance to practice emergencies without endangering ourselves, others, or airplanes.
If you would like to learn more about the Impossible Turn, or inquire about our simulator, please leave a comment or message us any time.

Keep an eye out layer this week as we kick off another Safety Alert month for April!
