NURSING ASSISTANT TRAINING COURSE
Aloha!
Thank you for your interest in our Nursing Assistant Training Program. We are currently offering a hybrid (online and classroom-based) course to encourage distance learning.
We are using Google Classroom as the platform for our online course. During the 12-day online portion (excludes weekends), the main focus is independent study/asynchronous learning by reading the textbook and/or lecture slides, completing chapter review assignments, and watching skills videos. There are five (5) online exams total. One (1) class day will be dedicated to instructor-led CPR or BLS training.
After the online portion is finished, you will be required to complete a 5-day classroom-based skills competency evaluation. In order to prepare for the skills competency evaluation, it is recommended to watch the videos more than once, and attempt to practice the skills at home. To allow for social distancing, we are holding 2 different sessions per day (ex. 1st session from 8:00am to 12:00am, 2nd session from 5:00pm to 9:00pm) accommodating 10-12 students per session.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our partnered skilled nursing facilities are unable to accommodate students for clinical practicum. The 5-day of skills evaluation will supplement the clinical practicum experience at a skilled nursing facility.
CPR training is also a requirement for the Nursing Assistant Training course. We offer either American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED First Aid or BLS Provider. The CPR training is classroom-based, but we can also offer a blended-learning CPR course. Upon registration you will be able to select a date for your CPR training.
The next Nursing Assistant Training class online will start on Monday April 3, 2023. The instructions on how to join the online GOOGLE classroom will be sent to your email address (you provided us when you registered) on Saturday April 1, or Sunday April 3, 2022.
We offer 2 course packages:
• Package 1 - includes tuition, textbook, basic medical terminology, bloodborne pathogens training, clinical skills evaluation, student liability insurance, and a choice of American Heart Association BLS or CPR/AED/First Aid.
o Total cost - $990.00
• Package 2 - includes all the above except BLS or CPR training.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Our office telephone number is 808-488-9449.
Thank you,

Career Opportunities at REHAB Hospital of the Pacific
Aloha Healthcare School of Hawaii,
We are really appreciative to know that Healthcare School of Hawaii has a nursing program, where students are educated and trained to be able to join our healthcare industry. We believe that those that complete your program will be able to support REHAB’s mission of rebuilding lives together. As the only physical rehabilitation hospital in the state, we believe in nurturing and developing talent as our multidisciplinary team works together to maximize the recovery potential of our patients. We are interested in working with Healthcare School of Hawaii to assist in developing a pathway to employment for your students.
We’d love to have you as well as current and former students come to our on-site job fair at our Nuuanu location on January 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. This job fair is different from others, as we will have interactive activity booths run by our clinical teams to share information about the important work that we do and how we support our community. We are also unveiling a new information center where people can learn about physical rehabilitation and related services, not only at REHAB, but across our state. Even if students are not ready to apply right now, we encourage anyone to stop by and learn about a potential career at REHAB.
We are currently actively looking for nurse aides, certified nurse aides and other clinical and non-clinical positions. At the fair, we will have in-person interviews for qualified applicants as well as potential conditional job offers. We welcome walk-ins, but highly encourage applicants to apply online prior to the fair to expedite check-in.
You can learn more about our job fair and a career at REHAB here:
Working for REHAB, it’s really amazing to see the impact we have on the community. Our return to community/home rate of 91.1% exceeds the national average and it’s incredibly rewarding when some of our patients come to our facility not able to walk or talk, but leave walking or talking again. I truly believe REHAB offers a career experience unlike any other healthcare provider or business in the state.
If you have any questions, I’d be happy to discuss them with you.
Mahalo,
Timon K.H. Leong

Thank you so much jonathan for teaching us everything we know. We learned a lot for the short time in school. Wish we could've been in school longer. I'm happy i chose the 6pm class. You are definitely the best teacher & my classmates who became my friends now are the best too. I highly recommend anyone to attend Healthcare School Of Hawaii.
Staffs are genuinely approachable. Instructors are well trained and skilled. During the skills days our instructor Jonathan was prepared and passionate to pass the knowledge on how to do things in a rightful way. He made sure we gained & learned the skills well by showing/demonstrating it in a easily understood way. Thank you sir Jonathan! Definitely a wonderful experience. Thank you HSCH!

Aloha HSCH students,
We all have been monitoring the rapidly changing COVID-19 (Corona Virus) health issue in our region and across the world. After thoughtful consideration and in compliance to Honolulu Mayor’s “stay at home, work at home” order, we will be temporarily suspending our classroom-based courses until April 30th or pending when the stay at home order is lifted. Courses include New Nursing Assistant, 24 Hour CNA Recertification, CPR/AED/First Aid, and BLS Provider.
Healthcare School of Hawaii is working to minimize exposure of our students by making sure education continues online. As Training Coordinator, I have made the following adjustments:
1. Current and upcoming Nurse Aide Training classroom lectures will be transitioning to online learning, so please stay tuned. Our instructional staffs have and will continue to develop their skills for providing instruction within an online environment.
2. Current Nurse Aide Training classroom lab/practical skills training are suspended and will be rescheduled. Clinical Practicum at our partnered Long Term Care Nursing Homes remains on hold until further notice.
3. Skills practice sessions for all students who previously made appointments must be rescheduled.
4. Students who have already enrolled for upcoming CNA recertification classes will be contacted individually. We will be contacting you depending on your expiration dates. We may be transitioning to ZOOM meetings with emailed handouts that will be sent to you prior to the meeting.
This is an incredibly challenging time for our entire community and your health and safety is of our primary concern. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at (808) 488-9449, or email us at [email protected]. We expect to receive high call volumes after this announcement, but we will try to get back to you as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding!
Sincerely,
Marianela Jacob MSN APRN-Rx FNP-BC RN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
REHAB Hospital of the Pacific Partners with University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute to offer Level 1 Certification Opportunity for Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialists®
Honolulu, HI (May 10, 2019) – REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) and the University of Northern Colorado Cancer Rehabilitation Institute (UNCCRI) have partnered to offer a Level 1 Certification Course on July 19 - 21, 2019, and January 24 - 26, 2020, for Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialists® (CCES®). The certification is for healthcare professionals who are interested in designing and implementing exercise interventions for cancer survivors.
“Hawaii is estimated to have only a handful of Level 1 CCES® certified professionals in the islands to treat those who have been affected by cancer,” said Cheri Teranishi-Hashimoto, the program director for Women’s Health and Cancer Rehabilitation at REHAB Hospital. “The hands-on training greatly benefits cancer survivors by increasing the number of certified professionals available to them to enhance functional capacity and alleviate cancer treatment-related side effects.”
“This is an ideal opportunity for Hawaii health care professionals who are interested in this field to gain the knowledge and certification to help more patients and it is the first time this particular certification course will be offered in Hawaii by REHAB, who has five currently certified professionals available to run the training.”
Any clinician with a BS or health-related degree is invited to attend (i.e., Physical Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, etc.). The Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialist - Level 1 (CCES L1) Course includes:
2-day Practical Hands-On Training
Online Course Content
Face-to-Face Course Content
Level 1 Clinical Cancer Exercise Specialists® (CCES®) are healthcare professionals who have a basic understanding of cancer biology, standard cancer treatments, treatment-related toxicities, and the benefits associated with exercise training in cancer survivors. They utilize evidence-based research principles to train cancer survivors with the purpose of alleviating cancer and cancer treatment-related side effects, enhancing functional capacity, and improving quality of life. They conduct physical assessments, compose exercise prescriptions, and supervise exercise interventions for cancer survivors using safe and effective training principles.
REHAB is the only sister site approved to host the Level 1 CCES® course developed by UNCCRI in the islands. UNCCRI is the only University to offer this certification and was the first program in the Nation to examine the role of exercise on rehabilitation in cancer survivors. The program was started at UNCCRI in 1996. The course space availability is limited. Those interested in registering or receiving more information can visit https://www.rehabhospital.org/news/get-certified-cancer-exercise
