Throwback from the vault of yours truly 😜
A little long but totally worth the read 📖
A few years back, when Andrea was in her late teens, we (mom, myself, Gabbi, Andrea & a friend) went deep in the woods up north so that Andrea could record the sky at night with her camera for a school project.
Side note…I have a reputation for fiascos on road trips…never a non eventful trip 🙄
We were in a slight valley deep in the forest and it’s later in the day we are 2 hours from Phoenix and about 45 minutes from a big enough town for food. You can probably can guess where this is going ☺️!
There are people also parked in this area of the National Forest but most are leaving.
Gabbi, mom, and myself stayed back by moms SUV and wandered around a little while Andrea and her friend hiked up the side of the mountain to set up the camera. We could still see them like ants 🐜 along with a couple other photo enthusiasts.
I, for reasons that I cannot remember, got into mom’s truck and decided it would be a good idea to press unknown buttons 😀 somehow locking up everything 😳.
I put the 🔑 into the ignition,still not worried, and now all the bells 🔔 and whistles are going off.
Meanwhile I can see the two ant sized faces of Andrea and her friend looking our way.
Oh shizz….what the heck should I do!?
II’ll try to undo all the buttons I pushed!
👎🏼…that did not work…😳
I forgot to mention there was no phone📱 reception .
Well reality has settled in and not only can I not get everything unlocked but every time I put the key 🔑 in the ignition I set off the ‼️ alarm ‼️ in the forest 🌳
I finally find 2 bars, enough to make a call to the Star company ontop of mom’s car to get HELP!
Well…they can’t find us on the tracker, I have no idea what mile marker we are at and it’s 8 something at night…in the middle of the forest, up north, far enough from civilization…we all need to use the bathroom 🚽 and 🤤 hunger has set in.
The Star company finds a tow truck 45 minutes away but they aren’t open until the morning…SHIZZ…how am I going to tell these people who are seriously ready to kill me at this point that we are here til the morning!?
I am 💩 my pants at this point! Gabbi is scared, Andrea is trying to keep her friend calm and my mom is like…sigh…why?!
The tow truck 🛻 guy felt bad that 5 females are in the mountains with no working car or phones and decided he should drive along the road through the area I WAS able to tell the people at the Star company we were on. He did find us and it turns out all he needed to do was disconnect the battery and reconnect.
Needless to say…I am still alive! We made it home! And despite everyone adamantly declaring they will never go on another road trip with me…we have! many many times! And yes! I have lots of stories.
I can tell you that I am not allowed to book lodging anymore without the approval of the group 🤣
I hope you enjoyed and the lesson in all this? A. Don’t trust any trip I am on and B. We always land on our 👣!
