We had a fantastic Halloween Performance Party @ Music & Arts in East Hartford! Students played the songs "Monster Mash", "Witch Doctor" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Students preparing for CT Regional Auditions performed their pieces in front of the audience of other students and parents who stayed to watch the party. Garrett Molinari, Nolan Wyatt, and Arianna Rozman performed very well. We played several games including "Name That Scary Tune" in teams of two students. All 5 teams of two guessed at least one Halloween tune correctly. Students won Monster Bucks throughout the evening in different games and then were able to purchase Halloween prizes with the Monster Bucks collected. Students also dressed up for the Halloween Costume Contest. The winners were as follows:
Arianna Rozman - Best Overall as an Archer
Kristen Chin - Funniest as an Elephant
Jacob Balis - Coolest as Fonzie/The Fonz
Cassidy Winters - Scariest as Dementor from "Harry Potter"
Nolan Wyatt - Most Original as a Floating Skull

Students also had the challenge of trying to guess Kellyann's Costume which was a handmade Purple People Eater Costume.

Everyone who attended had so much fun even the siblings whom Kellyann included into the party as volunteers to help with the evening's activities and were rewarded for doing so.

Of course the party isn't a party without food. Students and Parents brought some fantastic ghoulish goodies and Kellyann made some eyeball cupcakes which were shared by all at the end.

A big Thank You goes to Nina Roode who helped Kellyann beautifully decorate rest of the cupcakes and Julie Rozman who helped tally up the Costume Contest votes. Also Garrett Molinari's Grandmother help me out by cutting up the Monster Bucks. And I would like to thank all of the parents and students for their help in decorating, helping me with the games and the food and drink during the social gathering at the end. Thank you also to Chris, my Manager, for allowing me to hold this wonderful event and Chris and Dan for helping me unload, set up, decorate, and break everything down, clean up and load back up. It is too much for just me to do and I couldn't have done it without them! Thank you for your support!

If anyone got any pics or video please share it with me here on my page. In all the chaos of the evening of course I forgot to hand someone my camera and take pics and video footage.
Students thank you for a successful 2016 Halloween Performance Party! The students and the parents made new friends and everyone had a fantastic time!

Woman sings two notes simultaneously in amazing display of voice talent

gizmo.do German singer Anne-Maria Hefele has been training her voice since 2005 to become an polyphonic overtone singer. This means that she is capable of singing different scales of low notes (fundamentals) and high pitched notes (overtones) at the same time producing an otherworldly sound that gave me goosebumps.

[10/02/14]   FOR STUDENTS NOT CURRENTLY PREPARING FOR AUDITIONS:
Let me know if you are interested in learning how to play by ear. I take the time in preparation of Halloween & use several Halloween Songs to teach students to play by ear and transcribe music. Many Halloween Songs are very simplistic, only 4 to 5 pitches in some cases, and they are very repetitious. This makes it easier to play be ear. This is a fun & musical Halloween activity. Some of the songs include Monster Mash, The Lion Sleeps at Night, Purple People Eater, Wooley Bully, Ghostbusters, and Tequila. Let me know if you are interested and we'll get started in next week's lesson!

[09/20/14]   TONIGHT! Blue Collar Project performs at the Pour House in Naugatuck, CT from 9:00 - 1:00. Country, Southern Rock, & Blues from a very versatile & talented 4-piece band. Country Line Dancers Welcome. Music requests taken during break music. Come on down and see us!

The Woodwind Institute

Also for the month of October, I'm going to do something fun on Facebook. Each week I will post a picture of me in a Halloween Costume here on this page. The 1st three students who can guess what or who I am by e-mailing me back the correct answer at [email protected]
will receive a cool Halloween Prize.
I will send a reminder e-mail out to everyone at the beginning of each week.
