Today is the big day! We can’t wait to celebrate 65 years of East Union with everyone🥳

A few reminders for today ⬇️

‼️ Due to low interest, there will only be one tour of East Union School today @ 2:15PM (1916 High School Drive Afton IA 50830)

‼️ The new EU Infant Toddler Center will be available to tour from 2PM-4PM (508 W. Pearl Street Afton IA 50830)

‼️ There will many local businesses open on the square — be sure too come out and support

‼️ Be sure to bring your own lawn chairs for the EU Alumni Updates & 65 in 65 Awards in the park @ 6PM

The East Union All School Reunion is THIS Saturday (tomorrow). Details below ⬇️ for the Roost!

Friday, June 27 we will be open 8a-2p.
Saturday, June 28 we will be open 8a-7p, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Closed Sunday.

Menu details..

🌄Breakfast: $10 sausage gravy and biscuits with a drink ($7 for a half order)
☀️ Lunch: $10 chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes and dinner roll with drink ($7 for a half order)
🌅Dinner: $15 Brisket, cheesy potatoes and coleslaw with a drink

The purpose of the "65 in 65 Awards" is to recognize people who have went above and beyond to make a positive impact on East Union in the 65 years since it was established in 1960.

Nominees of this award may include ⬇️
💙 Alumni of East Union (including graduates of Afton, Arispe, Lorimor, Shannon City, and Thayer prior to 1960)
💙 Former teachers and staff at East Union
💙 Current teachers and staff at East Union
💙 Community members

💙 When: Saturday June 28th, 2025 4PM-7PM
💙 Who: East Union alumni, family, and friends (including graduates of Afton, Arispe, Lorimor, Shannon City, and Thayer) along with current & former faculty/staff, and community members
💙 Why: To reconnect, reminisce, and catch up with old classmates & friend and hopefully make new memories while supporting future EU graduates and needs of the school. Anything is possible!

⬇️ Tentative Schedule of Events ⬇️
🔹9AM - Enjoy various activities with family, friends, and fellow EU alumni around the Afton community including:
- Supporting local EU alumni-owned & community businesses such as Six Sisters Emporium Afton, The Roost • Grace - Grits - Gifts, ASPIRE, and more
- Golfing at Lakeshore Golf & Country Club (1857 Golf Club Drive)
- Swimming at 3 Mile Lake (1542 Campground Road)

🔹2PM - Tour of East Union Community School (1916 High School Drive)

🔹4PM - EU 65th "birthday" party for families & kids to celebrate with ice cream sundae bar @ The Roost (101 E. Kansas Street)

🔹4:30PM - East Union trivia battle of the classes/alum @ The Roost (101 E. Kansas Street)

🔹5PM - Local food options are available for purchase featuring EU alumni-owned businesses including:
- El Ranchito
- Afton Sweet Creamery (ice cream only)
- The Roost
- Reno & Woody's
- AND MORE!

After getting some food, all are welcome to find a spot around the square to catch up with fellow alumni and community & The Roost and outside seating options include the park in the square with picnic tables or bring your own food & blanket for a picnic)

🔹6PM - EU Alumni Updates & "65 in 65" awards are awarded (Afton square park)

🔹7PM - Kansas Street Boogie presented by the Afton Community Club (Kansas Street)

‼️ All free-will donations and proceeds go to the East Union Alumni Association for future reunions, scholarships, and other projects supporting the East Union School District
