We’ve taken a pause on our books to enjoy the last of summer break. We’ve still incorporated all of our tiers of learning though. The kids created their own crafts, played with lots of Legos, made their own shopping lists/orders (kitchen play), colored with chalk, and enjoyed kinetic sand. We spend 3-5 hours outside every day. Everyone’s favorite thing during summer is eating outside. We try to enjoy as many lunches and snacks outside as we can! Another favorite is our “rainbow walks”. As we walk up the hill we have to find and collect items with the colors in the rainbow. On our way back to the house we play I Spy!

The last two days we enjoyed How Do Dinosaurs Go To School! We read outside both mornings. Our dramatic play stations included dinosaurs, dino costumes, and magna-tiles. This covers the gold standard for learning! The first day the kids created a replica of a dino of their choice. Today we traced Dino shadows and then “played” with Playdoh! This is amazing for fine motor skills! It tests their imaginations as well. We had some cover their Dino’s, create nests/eggs, volcanos, and much more!

I have not posted in while. I took a week to enjoy my birthday, and then had some important family matters come up. These were our last days in June. The kids made some very cute Father’s Day cards and of course we had to add some yummy chocolates! Then we focused on Snow Kid,Ellie’s Tea Party, and Lilo and Stitch. We made some snowmen out of marshmallows, drank hot chocolate, ate snowman popcorn, and made rice snowman socks! For Elli’s book we had a tea party and made invitations that were shown in the book. This took up a good portion of the morning. The kids set everything up themselves and served all the treats and drinks. For Lilo and Stitch we had a Hawaiian party! I had a bunch of hula skirts,bracelets, and leis! We danced, played with Stitch characters/stuffed animals, worked on a Lilo and Stitch puzzle, and watched the movie!
