St Louis Kokondo Teaching practical, effective self-defense in St. Louis for over 35 years. We want you to make an informed decision. Louis Metropolitan area.

If you are interested in martial arts, first ask “what do I want out of a martial arts school?” Without this focus, many individuals sign up at the school closest to home or the one with the best sales pitch. International Kokondo Association, consists of Jukido Jujitsu and Kokondo Karate. Our Martial Arts are designed to teach Self Defense using the techniques of traditional Jujitsu and Karate Systems. Kokondo’s primary goal of “appropriate response” is guided by its adherence to the seven codes of Bushido (the way of the Warrior). The system utilizes the principles of Kuzushi (unbalancing), Jushin (center line theory) and Shorin-ji (points and circles) to create a fully-effective self defense system. Classes have been in the same Affton location since 1985 and we are one of the longest continuously running martial arts schools in the St.

Have dans doing the same bo kata they've done for years. The wrinkle added this time is that 4 ft weapons were used.

The addition, subtraction, or modifications of the movements were interesting to observe.

** IMPORTANT NOTICE **

Dear Kokondo Members and Friends,

Exciting news for the Kokondo community! Registration will begin soon for the 2026 Kokondo National Seminar, a premier event bringing together practitioners from across the country for training, camaraderie, and celebration of our shared martial arts heritage.

This year’s seminar will feature a special theme to be announced soon, promising a unique focus that will inspire and challenge all participants-students and instructors alike.

In addition, we are proud to share a major announcement that marks a historic milestone for our organization: the establishment of a new permanent headquarters (Honbu) for Kokondo Martial Arts. This new home will serve as a central hub for training, leadership development, and the preservation of our traditions for generations to come.

Further details, including seminar location, schedule, and lodging information, will be released in the coming weeks. Early registration is encouraged to secure a spot at this landmark event.

Be part of Kokondo history in the making on July 30-Aug 1.

In spirit and strength,

Robert E. Robert
