JC/LISD Academy is a public middle college program for Lenawee County students, located on the campuses of LISD TECH Center and Jackson College.
JC/LISD Academy is a public middle college program for capable and self-motivated students, located on the campus of LISD TECH Center and Jackson College (JC). JC/LISD Academy exists in partnership with all 11 Lenawee County public school districts and is funded through a percentage of each district's Foundation Allowance. This alleviates cost to students or their families who attend. The Academy is designed to fully immerse high school aged students in the post-secondary learning environment, while affording them the opportunity to complete a high school diploma and associate degree. This is accomplished in five years through the Michigan Department of Education's Four Plus One Program. The Program gives students an opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school and offers motivated, academically-focused students a chance to enroll in advanced, college-level coursework. It also provides an alternative for students who are either struggling or do not feel connected to their high school. We welcome your opinions, and encourage open discussion about the topics we post. This picture was taken the last time we were together as a JC/LISD Academy community. Adrian College had provided us with two tickets to the (eventually cancelled) Hunter Hayes & B.O.B. concert. We decided to have first year students nominate classmates who had the biggest impact on them during their first year at the Academy. Congratulations to Kyra Yakubesan (not pictured) who received the most nomations for the tickets. Don't worry Kyra, we'll make it up to you some how!
The students in the picture below were students who were also nominated for having an important impact on the life of a first year student. Now more than ever, I want to remind ALL of our students to reach out to each other. Text a classmate, offer to help a student who is struggling with an assignment, reach out to your mentor or mentee, or tag a friend in an inspirational post.
Can't wait to see you all again! Until then, stay safe!
Lots of good info!
