Great news!! The Alexander yearbook is in! If you ordered one they can be picked up Wednesday from 11AM-2:30PM; Thursday from 8AM-2PM and 5PM-6:30PM or Friday from 8AM-2PM. If you purchased a yearbook you will receive a reminder phone and email message tomorrow morning by 11AM.

We have a few extras that can be purchased for $15. If you are interested in purchasing one of the extras, please email Mrs. Schefka at [email protected]
Extras are first come first serve and payable by cash or check made out to Alexander PTO.

Our little library has been refreshed with new books! Come and pick some out for summer reading!

School supply lists for the 2020-2021 school year! These lists are also hanging on the windows at the main entrance of Alexander.

Hello Alexander families,

This is the last week that the office will be open for the year. We are open Monday - Friday from 8AM-2PM. We close on June 19th.

If you need to pick up student items (today until noon), medication or summer workbooks please do so soon. Also, if you need to drop off any registration items for next school year, Title 1 books from reading teachers, library books or update phone numbers and addresses, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Yearbooks are scheduled to arrive this week. We will update you when they arrive and can be picked up.

The office will re-open on August 7th, 2020.

Maple Track Club Summer Camp

Attention Alexander students and parents. Join the Adrian High School Varsity Track Coaches for the first-ever, Maple Track Club Summer Camp. This two-week camp will introduce students to a number of track and field events. Students will explore the high jump, the long jump, hurdles, shot put, as well as both sprint and long-distance running events.

With summer here and buildings starting to shut down, on-line registration is highly encouraged. However, if you need a paper form, there will be two options.

Option 1.) Forms will be available for pickup at your school only until June 16th. If you are going to stop in, please call ahead to ensure the office is open.

Option 2.) Forms will be available in the Recreation Department office, located in the high school athletic lobby. Please enter the High School North Athletic Lobby entrance off of Stockford Dr. Recreation office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am - 2 pm, for the entire month of June. July hours will be posted at a later date.

Summer Workbooks are still available outside the main entrance this week. Please come at your convenience and get one. A reminder that if your child was in 1st grade they will get a 1st grade between 2nd grade workbook.

We were so excited to see the adorable faces of our newest Maples at our Kinddergarten screenings today. Kindergarten is looking pretty awesome for fall of 2020! If you haven’t registered yet, the office is open from 8am-2pm Monday - Friday until June 19th, stop on by to register soon!

[06/11/20]   If you were unable to pick up a Summer Workbook yesterday we have them available for you outside our buildings main entrance. Make sure to choose your child's current grade level: A current 1st Grader would choose the Between Grades 1 & 2 Workbook on the table. Have a great Summer!

All students will receive summer workbooks and teacher support through June. In addition, a website will be created to provide supplemental instruction and weekly overviews.

Please plan to come to Alexander next Wednesday, June 10th from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and or 5:00- 7:00 p.m. to pick up your child's current grade level Summer Workbook. This is a great summer learning option for your child so that they can continue to stay engaged in their learning.

Please enter Cherry Street and pull all the way up to the main entrance as cones will be visible. State your child's name, current grade level, and teacher as we will provide you with the correct workbook. If additional children share all grade levels. Grade Y5, K-4 will receive the Summer Weekly Reader Express and Grade 5 the Summer Bridge Workbook.

[06/07/20]   Reminder the Weekly Food Pick-Up takes place Monday from 10:30 to 12:30 at AHS, Drager, and Michener.

This is the last week meals will be delivered home. Starting June 15th all meals must be picked up because of summer heat on buses during delivery.

Congratulations to our PBIS Maple Tree winners who won the bikes from March is Reading Month. Our winners are Noah Clark 4th Grader in Mrs. Giroux classroom and Cooper Harmon 2nd grader from Mrs. Stewart’s classroom. Thank you to Kiwanis Club for donating the bikes to us.

Young 5 and Kindergarten Screening for the 2020-2021 School Year

Parents please look for a phone call from Mrs. Schefka for screening times for your incoming child(ren) to Alexander Elementary School. The dates and times are:

Thursday, June 11th from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M.
Friday, June 12th from 9:00-12:00 P.M.

Social Distancing Guidelines will be followed. Please plan to wear a mask. Parents can enter through Alexander's main entrance as we ask you to wait outside until your scheduled time as a teacher will come and get you.

Also Mrs. Schefka and Mrs. Henline are at Alexander from 8-2:00 p.m. daily until June 19th. If you have a new Young 5/Kindergarten student who is ready to enroll or a new student to our building please stop by and get a registration packet. The Adrian District Library and Lenawee District Library are once again offering a Summer Reading Program for kids.
Both libraries this summer will be offering an online logging and tracking system. For those without reliable internet access, each library offers a paper option.
And each library will be offering virtual events throughout the summer.

This is a reminder that Chromebook return continues today June 2nd through Thursday, June 4th, from 12pm - 3pm, Chromebook returns will be taking place at the high school. Please enter the south lot off of McKenzie St, and proceed down to the athletic lobby entrance where a staff member will meet you.

In the event that you believe anyone in your household may have come in direct contact with the Corona Virus, please contact us ahead of drop off, so that we can arrange a specific return plan for your Chromebook that allows for our staff to be prepared to handle appropriately and sanitize the device, ensuring safety for all parties involved.

This year we would like to announce Madeline Dempsey as the 2019-2020 Alexander Elementary School scholarship winner! Madeline will be attending Michigan State University in the fall for either Business or Education. Madeline spent five years at Alexander Elementary. She said she learned a lot of life lessons while she was at Alexander that have helped her to "create the foundation for the kind of student and person that I am today and thought me what it meant to be a part of a larger family community". Madeline stated that she has many fond memories from when she attended Alexander and that Alexander will always hold a special place in her heart. Congratulations, Madeline! We wish you luck in the next chapter of your education!

This fall the Adrian Schools Educational Foundation and the Adrian High School Alumni Association will honor outstanding teachers and mentors and outstanding graduates of Adrian Public Schools. We need your help! Please consider nominating deserving individuals for these awards.

The Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Award recognizes teachers, coaches, administrators, and support personnel of Adrian Public Schools. Previous recipients have all demonstrated excellence in their profession, gone above and beyond the normal expectations, and made a positive difference for students.

The Outstanding Alumni Award honors APS graduates who have distinguished themselves in their professional careers and/or service to their community and country.
