We are excited to partner with MSU Extension for classes exclusively for our APS community. First on our schedule is a session on Surviving Virtual School (February 11, from 7-8 pm). Whether your student is enrolled in virtual school or you are trying to prepare for possible quarantine situations, this class has something for you!

[10/14/20] This year our annual Title 1 meeting is available online and includes information about counseling and graduation coach services available through 31a. Please watch the video at bit.ly/michenertitleI and fill out the brief survey below it to verify your attendance. Parents who submit the survey before Friday, October 23rd will be entered into a drawing for a gas card.
[10/13/20] Virtual students can pick up their Michener water bottles on Thursday, October 15 from 2:15-3:45 and Friday, October 16 from 2:15-3:30. Please pull up in front of the school and one of our PTO officers will come to your car. Please stay in your car and wait until you are approached.
With the help of our awesome staff, we’ve successfully moved Ms. Overton’s 2/3 grade room to the library!
Students are excited, and will be all set to learn in their new space starting Monday!

Thank you to the Adrian District Library for being such a fantastic community partner and continuing to support our students.
"Grab & Go” kits and “Explore . . . Book Bundles” are now available for children at the Adrian District Library. September’s theme for Grab & Go kits is pirates, in celebration of International “Talk Like a Pirate Day” on September 19. Each kit is free to any child and includes crafts and activity pages. Kits are available to pick up in the youth department or through the library’s curbside service.
Book Bundles are collections of several books and/or DVD’s and activity pages that are available to borrow on an Adrian District Library card. Each collection focuses on a theme of interest to children including pets, transportation, and construction. Available themes continually change and custom Book Bundles can be created upon request.

Maumee St. The library is open regular hours to the public. Face coverings required to enter. Curbside service is also available. Contact the library for details.
Michener PTO purchased a water bottle for every student this year! With our drinking fountains turned off this year, they knew these would be helpful for our students! Our water bottle refill station is still operating (since it’s no contact). Teachers will write first and last names on bottles for students. Each classroom teacher will handle their own distribution process. We recommend these are washed prior to use (hand wash only).
If you’re a Michener virtual student, stay-tuned! We’ll communicate a plan to distribute your water bottles, too!

This message will be a bit longer than most with important information you may want to write down.
I am excited to get the new school year underway. We have taken tremendous strides to ensure a safe, enjoyable and very educational school year for your children. The teachers have decorated their classrooms, arranged the furniture for social distancing, created great lessons and are ready to teach your children. Here are some important details you need to know about school this year.
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th. School starts at 8:35 and ends at 2:00 p.m. Students will not be allowed into the building until 8:25 a.m. and should remain in their cars or on the bus until then. Parents please drop your child off in the location indicated on the map that was mailed to you. If you are a 1st through 5th grade parent, please stay in your car and enjoy our curbside service. If you are a Kindergarten parent, please drop off any older siblings first and then park at the curb by the playground. You will walk your child to the Kindergarten Drop Off Door and sign them in.
Remember to screen your child for Covid symptoms at home each day before school. The children will have a temperature check when they arrive in their classrooms.
Students and staff are required to wear masks while at school in accordance with the Adrian Public Schools Return to Learning Plan. Masks breaks will be given throughout the day.
Parents will not be allowed to walk their children to their classrooms this year. Adults will be outside to guide children into the building and teachers will be in the hallways to walk them to class. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the classrooms.
