Fluency Friends volunteer reading program at Michener Elementary bounces back from hiatus Fluency Friends partners children with an adult “reading buddy” to practice and improve their reading skills while making positive connections.

In an effort to keep Carnival more affordable we are running an All-You-Can-Play Wristband Pre-Sale for $5. Pre-Sale ends next Thursday, May 18th. Wristbands allow you to play all the games as much as you want and include the obstacle course and face painter. They will be $10 at the door.

Dear Families,

Staff Appreciation Week is upon us this week, May 8th-12th. We love what our Staff has accomplished this year and all that they have done for each student at Michener, from homework help, to teaching the big lessons, to reading stories, to helping them when they struggle. Our Michener family has done amazing things this year.

As a token of appreciation, the Social Committee is asking families and students to write letters, draw pictures, share memories, photos, funny stories, and if you would like, to gift the Staff with any item off their Favorite Things List as a sign of gratitude for all they have done this year. The memories your students share are the most important to them. Please share away on this post as well, we will make sure the stuff see what you have posted here as well!

On Friday, May 12th, we are encouraging students to dress as their Favorite Staff Member as well! This was one of our Favorite dress up days last year and we loved the creativity the students put into dressing up like their favorite staff member.

Thank you as well for being your children’s first and most important teachers! You have raised amazing students that we are so blessed to have in our school.

Michener Spring Carnival is almost here! The PTO will be raffling off themed baskets during Carnival and we need your help. We have sent home classroom donation lists to help us create these amazing raffle baskets! All proceeds from Carnival will go into funding student activities for next year. Your donations help us to put on events like The Trunk-or-Treat and Family Winter Dance! Thank you!

Thank you to Sophie's Book Stand for the generous donation of books for giveaways in the library! These will be added to the HeadShip Giveaway Boxes, so our final Head Students get a chance at more NEW books!

Thank you Sophia for all the hard work you do, giving away books to students in need! You are a great influence on many children and adults in the world! 💞💞

These will be the last two Spring Registrations for the school year, so please sign up if you want your child to participate! There is financial assistance available to help with the cost!

All of our Michener students and staff had a great Science Day yesterday! The students had so much fun with all the activities!

Thank You to all of our volunteers! We had some of our Michener Parents, DTE, Planewave, Boys & Girls Club, LISD Tech Center, Civil Air Patrol, and Michigan Avian Experience donate their time and knowledge to create such a fun day for our students.

Our PTO meeting for tonight is canceled. Students nominated for student of the month will be honored at the next meeting in May.
