Dear APS Community,
We were notified this week that in-person classes will be ended for the remainder of the school year and schools will convert to distance education. Many have asked how this will work for you and your family. While the Governor’s announcement was made yesterday, clear guidance on how to implement her executive order is slowly rolling out from the Michigan Department of Education and there are a number of questions that have surfaced.
First and foremost, I want to tell our community that we have a dedicated group of teachers and administrators that have been working and planning to address this concern and we have plans already in place that we are adapting and adjusting to best align with the Governor’s Executive Order.
Next week, April 6-10, was the District’s planned Spring Break. During this time District Administration we will be working with MDE and the Lenawee Intermediate School District to finalize our plan. It is my hope that by the end of next week we would communicate our plan to students and parents.
🚨To help assist us in this process we have two surveys we would like parents to complete. 🚨
➡️Parent Online Access Survey
➡️Parent Question Survey to develop a Frequently Asked Questions Page
These are tremendous times and while teaching and learning for children is the centerpiece of our field, it is also important that families take an opportunity for selfcare. While much of the school district will be closed next week, take this opportunity to spend quality time with your family. We will communicate our learning plan at the end of next week.

Dear Parents and Students,
With today's announcement from Governor Whitmer regarding the closing of schools for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year, I wanted to pass along a few updates.
1.) All students who registered and paid to participate in our Spring 2020 Gymnastics and Swimming programs, we are currently in the process of issuing full refunds.
2.) We will continue to bring you and your children instructional videos from our Varsity coaches, Physical Education teachers, as well as other community members, with ideas and ways to stay healthy, active, along with sport-specific drills to sharpen students' skills.
During this time away, I will continue to work and research ways to improve the programs and experiences our students have while participating in Adrian Public Schools Community Recreation activities. Additionally, if you have ideas or suggestions regarding future recreational activities, please do not hesitate to reach out as input from parents, students, and coaches is invaluable.
Maples, this is merely a bump in the road, and it's essential we all continue to support one another by staying active, healthy, and working towards the improvement of ourselves and the world around us. So using safe social distancing procedures, do not neglect your physical and mental health by remaining stationary. So get up, get a move on, and continue to show your Maple Pride. Go, Maples!!!

We miss our students!
Before abruptly having to leave school March 13th art classrooms were finishing up & sending their art to remember pieces in to the company. In fact the order forms were ready to ship back to our Adrian schools. Unfortunately with schools across the nation closing their doors the company decided to hold all order forms and go strictly ONLINE. This may be tough for many; but due to the unfortunate circumstances this is their best option to continue the fundraiser!!
Below is their new ART TO REMEMBER online ordering method. Simply go to your child/children’s school site. (I teach at Lincoln and Michener so there will be 2 different links) Your school’s link sends you right to the search site and allows you to type your (kid/kids) name. It will then bring you directly to your child’s art piece. Below their artwork you will see all 50 products and the pricing. You can order right from their online site. *****PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO SELECT DELIVERY TO GO DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOME NOT THE SCHOOL*** **With the unknown of when we can get back to school they mention this being a pretty popular delivery option for many other parents/families. It isn’t ideal going online only; but hopefully we still will have a very successful fund raiser this year. I will remind everyone that all money raised from your purchase orders goes directly to the Art Program; so we can continue doing amazing things in the Art room! The kids worked with me for many weeks on these “one of a kind” very special art projects, so please go and check them out. We appreciate it 😉👍
Thanks for your understanding. I posted below the art to remember link for you.

She helps in planning special family nights throughout the year and she helps manage all parents and community members who volunteer at our school. Much of what Mrs. Land does is behind the scenes but it makes a big impact on our staff and students. Thank you Mrs. Land for all your hard work!

A message from ADRIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
March 27, 2020
Dear APS Community,
I wanted to again thank our food service, transportation, custodial, and maintenance employees for their efforts to make sure our kitchens are up and running and that food is available and delivered to our families. We have been averaging over 2,000 meals a day distributed to APS and Adrian area children making us the largest food distribution program in the city to keep our kids fed in this time of crisis. Thank you is simply not enough to say for the efforts of these employees.
The health and safety of these workers and our families at home are a major concern as we prepare for more cases in Lenawee County. As a result, we will be changing how food is distributed starting on Monday.
❗️For those that pick-up meals, on Monday, March 30 you will receive 5 days worth of food all at once for all of next week.
❗️For those of you that have deliveries, you will get two deliveries on Monday. First a daily meal, and then later in the day 4 days worth of meals will be delivered for the remainder of the week.
❗️On Friday, April 3 we will be distributing 5 days of meals all at once for pick-up and delivery. This will cover the period of Spring Break.
I anticipate we will be learning more about the future of school closings in the coming days and we will provide updates on any changes in food delivery that will take place once we know it.
Monday, March 30th
Normal Delivery in the Morning, Second Delivery immediately following
Grab and Go - five days of food at all of the same site.
Friday, April 3rd
Delivery time TBD for 5 days of meals for Spring Break
Grab and Go - five days of food at all of the same sites to cover Spring Break

AHS Graduates 🎓
Message from Superintendent Behnke related to graduation.
Many families have asked about the future of graduation ceremonies for our current senior class. While there are many uncertainties in our future as a community, I want to let our students and community know that in some way, in some form, and at some time, we will have a graduation for the class of 2020.
While there are many uncertainties out there for us to face still, we will find a way to make a graduation happen. Sorry that I can’t share anything more specific, but know it will take place once things calm down and we have better answers.
🚨Mr. Lacasse (Mrs. Lacasse’s husband) will be going live to read to us at 6:00pm. Stay tuned!🚨

A special shout out to Mrs. Gisewite and Mrs. Fritz who are working hard to keep our Michener kids fed! We appreciate their dedication under normal circumstances and especially now with the unexpected school closure. Be sure to tell these ladies how much you appreciate them! They deserve it!
