Happy 2024 and our 1st full day back! πHope everyone had a great holiday. We read the story, Squirrel's New Year's Resolution, by Pat Miller which explained that a resolution is a promise you make and try to achieve; not only for yourself but also a promise you can make to others. Students then wrote a resolution/promise to themselves, then a resolution/promise to others and then the 3rd resolution/promise could be anything they wanted, even if it was to sing more. πΆ(That was mine.π) Scarlett shared the one that gave Mrs. Vellanti happy tears...to be with her family more. π₯Ή
Great first day back everyone, and as always...GO MAPLES!π
The hardest part of watching this is seeing how much Calvin and the rest of his Young 5's classmates have grown. This group of kids are the strongest Maples yet, having been through the "COVID" years of school. Remembering the day of Friday March 13th, 2020 when we were told to go home and do not come back. So many parents had questions that I could not answer, "What am I supposed to do? I have to work?!" Many of them being what we now know as "essential workers".
And, here we are in at the end of 2023. I look forward to 2024 with hope, knowing there is a plan, we just never know what it is "in the moment". What is important is how we treat and help each other get through the tough times. Peace and love to ALL of my students and families, and as always...GO MAPLES! Have a blessed Holiday and may you all get some rest.π
Reminder that today, Monday, December 11th is Holiday Hat Day.

Highlights from another SUPER busy week including Reindeer games during Physical Education with Mr. Marcum, making Christmas Cards during library with Ms. Kardiff, tangrams at math and Harlee reading Elf on the Shelf to the class. SUPER week everyone and as always...GO MAPLES!π
Next week is our Holiday Shop!!! This is where the students get to shop for their families and bring home gifts to open on Christmas. We are in need of volunteers to help with this. If you are able to help any of the shopping times, please let us know! You must have a volunteer form on file.
Prairie Families,
As the winter season is upon us, we would like to remind you about the importance of sending appropriate outdoor wear for your children. This is especially important during the colder months to ensure that your child stays warm and comfortable while playing outside.
Please make sure that your child is dressed in warm layers such as a jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf. It is also important to have appropriate footwear, such as boots, to keep their feet warm and dry. In addition, please label all of your child's outdoor wear to ensure that they are returned to the rightful owner.
We want our students to enjoy their time outside while staying safe and healthy. Please help us by dressing your child in appropriate outdoor wear during the winter months.
