Congratulations to 2020 recruit, Josh Kryska (D, New Boston Huron HS, MI/co-op with Belleville HS, MI) on signing his LOI to attend SHU and play lacrosse. Welcome Josh and his family to our SHU lacrosse family.
Tonight, we would have celebrated Senior Night with 2020 Seniors and their families. In this time of crisis, let's take the time to celebrate their athletic and academic accomplishments. Let's take the time to look at the positive side of the situation. Dan Kreitzer, Nolan Lyons, Ryan Mamo, Parker Richards, Stosh Kowalski, and Tanner Cowell worked hard to improve themselves and the team. They worked hard to be the best they could on and off the field. It has been a privilege to coach them and watch them mature over the past 4 years. While we, like everyone else, miss the opportunity to watch them play one more year, we have had the opportunity to watch them play for 3 years. We also thank your families for giving us the opportunity to coach you. Thank you Seniors for all that you contributed to SHU lacrosse. Welcome to my latest class of Has Beens!
[03/26/20] 2020 recruit, Chance Snyder (D, Central Catholic HS, OH) has submitted his Letter of Intent to attend SHU and play lacrosse in the Fall, 2020. His signing will be published at a future date.
[03/23/20] 2020 recruit, Jack Johnson (SS, transfer - U of Indianapolis; Brighton HS, MI) has submitted his LOI to attend SHU and play lacrosse in the Fall, 2020. His signing will be published at a later date.
[03/14/20] This is a unique period in our lifetime. Other generations have dealt with crises and incidents that have disrupted the routine of their daily lives (WWI, swine flu pandemic, WWII, Korean War, assassination of the Kennedy's and MLK, Vietnam, gas shortages of the 70's, Olympic boycott, 9/11, etc.) I know I neglected to mention a few others. As a coach, during this past week, I have experienced the highs and lows of emotions that have affected my small world of athletics. It has been said that there are many life lessons to be learned from participating in athletics. That is being put to the test now. In life, as in a game, things don't always go your way. Competitors will understand that it is in their DNA to dig down and work harder in order to succeed. That is what is being asked of everyone now. As on a team, everyone has their role to play in order for the team to succeed. This is not a time to be selfish. It is time to find a solution. For a team to succeed, individual sacrifices have to be made. For the virus to be defeated, individual sacrifices have to be made. It is easy to ask why is this happening to me? The question should be, why is this happening to us? The team is not the lacrosse team. The team is human life. Everyone has a role. No matter how minor, do it to the best of your ability. Hold your "teammates" accountable. Trust your "teammates" and know that they are doing their job. The team of human life will succeed. Everyone stay safe. To know when we win, I want to be able to see/talk/communicate with everyone when the virus is defeated. God Bless.
[03/13/20] The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has cancelled all 2020 Spring Sports.
We want to thank Dominic Bartolini and his staff for hosting us at Bartolini's Restaurant, 14420 Pulaski Rd, Midlothian, IL on Friday night during our trip to Chicago.
[03/02/20] The team met St. Ambrose at Marist Academy in Chicago this past weekend and suffered a 15-13 loss to SAU. Thanks go out to our fans who made the trip. The players have a few days off to recharge and then get back to work. We step out of the NAIA to play NCAA DIII Hope College on March 10th.
[02/24/20] The team played a hard fought game vs. #4 Cumberlands only to lose in overtime 11-10. Relentless team effort was displayed throughout the entire game by offense, defense, and the transition game. The mental mistakes committed the week before were cut down a great deal. The team needs to learn how to close out an opponent when they have the opponent down. Thanks to the parents/friends who took the time to travel to KY and support the team. And also thanks to the parents for supplying the drinks and snacks on the bus trip to and from KY. in particular, to Mr. Weaver and Mr. Emerson for delivering those items to the bus.
Congratulations to 2020 recruit, Cam Richards (SS, Hudsonville HS, MI) on signing his Letter of Intent to attend SHU and play lacrosse in the Fall, 2020. Cam's family will continue to be part of the SHU lacrosse family for another 4 years!
[02/18/20] This past weekend, the team took its annual preseason trip to scrimmage rival Grand Valley State. As in every first scrimmage, a lot is learned about the team and teammates. In this hard played scrimmage, the big take away is that there is a difference between physical mistakes and mental mistakes. The result is that good effort can't overcome mental mistakes.and mental mistakes are the difference between being successful or failing. We thank GVSU lacrosse for once again hosting us at their indoor facility.

What is the "subliminal message here?" Are the Seniors saying that they have been carrying Nolan Lyons throughout his career? Or is he dead weight?

[11/05/19] The team wrapped up Fall Ball with a scrimmage vs. a strong U of Dayton team. It was a competitive scrimmage in which the Freshmen were introduced to game-like conditions against a quality opponent. Now that November is here and Fall practices are completed, the team continues to prepare for the 2020 season in the weight room and Wednesday morning conditioning as well as preparing for Final Exams in December.
[10/28/19] With Fall practice beginning to near the end, the team traveled to Columbus, OH to scrimmage the Gray Team of OSU. While the scrimmage was a success score-wise and there were some good moments to build on during the scrimmage. However, there is quite a bit to work on execution wise in order to improve.

The Sunday morning August MIS crew that wrapped up the Team's Summer Fundraising efforts. On display throughout the Summer was the teamwork and commitment demonstrated by teammates in June, July, and August. By working for and with each other off the field, you begin to build the trust in each other that will be needed in the weight room and on the field.
The Saturday crew working the Faster Horses fundraiser at MIS. They worked in and survived the heat. Even though Jack Callaghan, Hunter Zieman, and G. Potter broke a truck, the word is we are still getting paid!
