Madison Middle School serves grades 6-8 in the Madison School District in Adrian, Michigan. Brad Anschuetz, Principal Mindy Jordan, Asst. Principal
Madison School District was recently notified by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) that Madison Middle School is recognized as one of only two National Title I Distinguished Schools located in Michigan. A portion of the award notification states, “Because only two schools per state can be selected as a National Title I Distinguished School each year, this award is an especially prestigious honor for your school, staff, and students.” This honor is based on statistical data compiled from the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years which indicate Madison Middle School students are in the top 10% statewide for academic achievement. Madison Middle School is the best in Michigan, insuring that all students are achieving, or what the State calls “closing the achievement gap.” Whether a child is gifted or requires targeted intervention the data indicates that no school in Michigan better serves the diverse needs of students. Congratulations to our middle school students, parents, staff, and administration for this exceptional accomplishment!

Madison School District, in cooperation with the Madison Gleaner Arbor, is establishing a school pantry to make sure no student goes hungry. Some of our students are food insecure, which means they do not consistently have access to enough food to be active and healthy. Children particularly lack access to meals at night or on the weekend, when their school-based support system goes away.
Counselors within the Madison School District will soon have access to a school pantry to assist students struggling with food insecurity. You can help make sure no student goes hungry by supporting the Madison School Pantry with donations of non-perishable food. Madison stakeholders may drop off food donations to any of the building offices. A list of items needed is included below.
If you know of a student who is food insecure please contact one of the school counselors.
High School Counselor 517-265-1843 Ext. 135
Middle School Counselor 517-263-0741 Ext. 225
Elementary Counselor 517-263-0744 Ext. 525

In accordance with Michigan’s Safe Schools Return Roadmap, it is strongly recommended that schools implement mental health screening for all students. This screener is to help us assert “where our students are at” due to the many challenges created as a result of COVID 19. Madison Middle School began screening assessments today. A link to these assessments has been placed on the Madison School District website for your review. The PHQ-9T and GAD-7 are brief high quality assessment tools to help identify primary symptoms and observe changes over a period of time. Student responses to this assessment will go directly to our school Counselor, Karla Fisher.
The girls from Troop 60242 completed the bathroom makeover/remodel project!
Please thank Sophia Curtis, Lydia Cheng, Emma McNichol, and Sarah Cheng for their efforts. These are the bathrooms outside of MS Lab 9. They are used by Elementary, MS, and HS students alike.
