Lab values by @nursemear Remembering all those lab values can be tricky, but here are some ways you can help commit them to memory! In this video I focus on the labs drawn when a Basic Metabolic Panel is ordered, would like to see more tips on how to remember other lab values as well? (For ex: CBCs, ABGs, etc), let me know below which one you would like to see next! Note: these value ranges differ slightly between different sources/textbooks/hospitals. However for the nclex, you will be just fine if you memorize these values using these tricks because they will only show abnormal ranges way below the range or way higher, it wont be too close to the normal range! Now i know some of these tips are a bit of a stretch, but if they help you remember the values, then why not!! “I’m from Horton, MI which is a small town 15 minutes outside of Jackson. I chose Siena because it felt like home, I knew how well known the nursing program was and I was recruited to play basketball (I now play lacrosse). After graduation I am excited to start my career and eventually get married to my fiancé Jillian in October. I think my favorite nursing school memory has to be the time the computer fell and broke in Lynn’s class”.

Alumni Spotlight: Grace Carey, BSN, RN Class of 2020...

"Graduating during a pandemic was strange for sure. But it wasn’t too difficult..as SHU nursing professors taught us, RN’s have to constantly adapt to an ever changing field. I accepted a job offer from Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital for night shift on the 5th floor General Medical Surgical Unit! I passed my NCLEX in 63 questions! I moved into my first apartment in Brownstown, MI with Channing Brzys. And I adopted a beautiful kitten, Pepper! I absolutely love my job and the people I work with! I finally feel like I am where I’m meant to be. I love taking care of my patients and their family members, making time to sit down and listen to their life stories or their concerns; even though charting takes up the majority of the time haha. Some days are harder than others, but I think back to why I started this life long journey in the first place; to help make a difference in people’s lives when they are in their most vulnerable state. The SHU nursing program helped me to become the nurse that I am today and I will be forever grateful. I am continuing to grow in my knowledge and confidence day by day. Know that you will succeed, just put in the time and effort, and you will get there! Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire! And Go Saints!"
