The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 proudly announce their second show of the season, Seussical the Musical! Auditions will be held on Monday, November 9th and Tuesday, November 10th. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Thursday, November 12th. Technical Interviews for students interested in working backstage will be held during advisement on Wednesday, November 11th.

Students interested in participating can sign up for a time on the call board, and will need to complete an audition packet.

Filled with colorful characters, energetic music, and heartfelt lessons about friendship, courage, and believing in yourself, Seussical is a joyful celebration for audiences of all ages. Cherished characters embark on a wonderful adventure filled with laughter, music, and heart. This whimsical, wild adventure is a treat that the entire family will enjoy.

Seussical the Musical will play the Carolyn Harris Performing Arts Center Thursday, March 18th and Friday, March 19th at 7pm. Senior Night will be celebrated on Friday, March 19th! Mark your calendars because this is certain to be a treat the entire family won’t want to miss!

We kick off our performance season with a timeless work from acclaimed American playwright Thornton Wilder, author of beloved works like Our Town, The Skin of Our Teeth and The Matchmaker. Pullman Car Hiawatha explores the beauty, heartbreak, and resilience found in everyday life. Thornton Wilder’s fantastical train journey takes audiences on a seemingly average December journey from New York to Chicago via the Hiawatha train that turns out to be anything but ordinary. Prepare for twists, turns, and surprises galore!

The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 proudly present Pullman Car Hiawatha: a play by Thornton Wilder.

Pullman Car Hiawatha will play the Carolyn Harris Performing Arts Center Thursday, October 22nd and Friday, October 23rd at 7pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and are available for purchase on MySchoolBucks or at the door. the box office will open 15 minutes before the show begins. Senior Night will be Friday, October 23rd beginning at 7pm.

Thornton Wilder’s fantastical train journey, Pullman Car Hiawatha, takes audiences on a December journey from New York to Chicago via the Hiawatha train.

The CHS Theatre is blessed with an amazing group of Seniors this year! In honor of our upcoming Senior Night on October 23rd, The CHS Theatre Wing is celebrating our wonderful seniors with a daily Senior Spotlight! Today’s Spotlight is Jaliah Redding.

Jaliah is an officer, and was elected by her peers to serve as both the Drama Club Treasurer and Thespian Troupe Treasurer for the 2026-2027 academic year. She has been involved with The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 for 4 years, becoming a Thespian her Freshman year of high school. Throughout her time with the troupe, Jaliah has been involved in multiple productions with the CHS Theatre Wing’s on stage and off including Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (ensemble/ run crew), Disney’s Descendants the Musical (ensemble/ run crew), Kate Hamill’s Dracula (ensemble), Peter Pan and Wendy (Pirate), Once Upon a Mattress (Lucille), and Alice in Wonderland (Tweedle). Her favorite production is Alice in Wonderland because she “fought Vin on stage”. Her favorite memory from her time with The CHS Theatre Wing is “doing Dracula with [her] brother”. Currently Jaliah stars as The Female Attendant in The CHS Theatre Wing’s upcoming production of Pullman Car Hiawatha. After graduation Jaliah plans to attend college to study psychology and continue participating with on campus theatre events. As a graduating senior Jaliah will miss her “sweet Ms. Powell and [her] little Aniya”. Her final reflection is as follows: “As I reflect on my final two shows that I will ever perform at Cook High School, I am most grateful for having a great director who actually loves their job and inspires me. I will miss all of the memories I made and the people I met. I love Ms. Powell so much for always believing in me.”

The CHS Theatre is blessed with an amazing group of Seniors this year! In honor of our upcoming Senior Night on October 23rd, The CHS Theatre Wing is celebrating our wonderful seniors with a daily Senior Spotlight! Today’s Spotlight is Marleigh Oleary.

Marleigh is an officer, and was elected by her peers to serve as Student Director and Troupe Vice President for the 2026-2027 academic year. She has been involved with The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 for 3 years, becoming a Thespian her Sophomore year of high school. Throughout her time with the troupe, Marleigh has been involved in multiple productions with the CHS Theatre Wing’s on stage and off including Peter Pan and Wendy (Smee), Once Upon a Mattress (Lucille/ The Minstrel), and Alice in Wonderland (Queen of Hearts). Her favorite production is Once Upon a Mattress because of “the connections between the cast and crew, and the music was phenomenal”. Marleigh’s favorite memory from her time with The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 is “attending GTC and ThesCon”. Currently The CHS Theatre Wing’s upcoming production of Pullman Car Hiawatha. Currently Marleigh serves as the Student Director in The CHS Theatre Wing’s upcoming production of Pullman Car Hiawatha. After graduation Marleigh plans to attend Valdosta State University to pursue a degree in special education and theatre arts. As a graduating senior Marleigh will miss “the connections with everyone”.

The CHS Theatre is blessed with an amazing group of Seniors this year! In honor of our upcoming Senior Night on October 23rd, The CHS Theatre Wing is celebrating our wonderful seniors with a daily Senior Spotlight! Today’s Spotlight is Maliq Vickers.

Maliq is an officer, and was elected by his peers to serve as Drama Club President for the 2026-2027 academic year. He has been involved with The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 for 5 years, becoming a Thespian his Freshman year of high school. Throughout Maliq’s time with the troupe, he has been involved in multiple productions with The CHS Theatre Wing- both on stage and off including Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (Mr. Wormwood*), Disney’s Descendants the Musical (Carlos), Kate Hamill’s Dracula (Dracula), Peter Pan and Wendy (Captain Hook), Once Upon a Mattress (Sir Harry*), and Alice in Wonderland (The Mad Hatter). His favorite productions are Matilda and Dracula because “Matilda was [his] first show and the most fun, and [he]liked the scary vibes of Dracula”. His favorite memory from his time with The CHS Theatre Wing and Troupe 7229 is “GTC 10th grade”. Currently Maliq stars as The Stage Manager in The CHS Theatre Wing’s upcoming production of Pullman Car Hiawatha. After graduation Maliq plans to attend Georgia State University. As a graduating senior Maliq will miss his “Freshman year cast” the most.
