Candy Cane's Learning Center Candy Cane's Daycare is now a ��� (3 star) Center We are a community of learners: children, families, and educators from a variety of backgrounds.

Candy Cane's Learning Center is a full day preschool program providing a loving and nurturing environment for the children of the neighboring communities since 2006. We incorporate that rich ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity and we draw upon that resource to provide a foundation for lifelong learning in a diverse and interdependent world.

For the children, we strive to maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing environment where the developmental needs of the children are addressed. For the parents, we strive to keep the program affordable and available. Candy Cane Learning Center and Candy Cane Day Care will provide a safe, reliable, high quality child care center for every child, so they will have a piece of mind and be worry free while their child/children are in our care. Parents will be treated with respect and will always have the opportunity for feedback and involvement.

🐝🍯 Learning is sweeter when it’s hands-on! 🍯🐝

This week, our students have been learning all about bees and honey, so we brought the theme into our sensory play! Our bee-inspired sensory bin gave our little learners an opportunity to explore different textures, scoop, pour, sort, and use their imaginations while strengthening those important fine-motor skills.

At Candy Canes Learning Center, we love turning our weekly themes into fun, hands-on learning experiences that our students can see, touch, and explore. 🐝💛

🐝 A special thank you to our Miss Patience for stopping by and reading a few short stories to our students. We truly enjoyed having her spend time with our little ones and help us close out such a fun week.
🐝We also want to thank her mother, for preparing a sweet treat and gifting our students hornet stickers. We appreciate both of you so much for thinking of our children and helping make the day extra special! ❤️

We had an amazing time celebrating and showing our Hornet pride at Candy Canes Learning Center! Our students enjoyed participating in all of the fun throughout Spirit Week.

🐝📚 Community, Literacy & Learning! 📚🐝
🐝 A special THANK YOU to Mr. Seth Pitts, Water & Sewer Utilities Director for the City of Adel, for taking time out of his day to visit Candy Canes Learning Center and read Buzz Bee to our students!
🐝 Mr. Seth is a proud 2001 Cook County graduate and has served the City of Adel for 20 years. During his visit, he also shared a little about his career and explained to our students that an important part of his job is making sure our community’s water is safe. 💧
🐝 The timing of his visit was perfect! This morning, our students enjoyed honey waffles and blueberries for breakfast, and reading Buzz Bee gave them an opportunity to learn even more about bees and how honey is made. 🧇🍯🫐🐝
🐝 We love creating learning experiences that connect what our students are reading with what they are seeing, tasting, and experiencing in the classroom. Moments like these make learning fun, meaningful, and memorable.
🐝 We are so thankful for community leaders who understand the importance of literacy, education, and pouring into our youngest learners.

Our little honeybees had such a sweet morning! 🐝🍯🧇
From making waffles to enjoying fresh blueberries, today was all about learning through hands-on fun. We love giving our students experiences they can see, touch, taste, and enjoy while learning along the way. 💛🖤
🐝 We also love supporting our local businesses! The honey used for today’s activity was purchased locally from Faith and Honey, which made our Honeybee Day even sweeter. 🍯

Today’s science/sensory project was all about cabbage! 🥬

We began with an important safety lesson about staying a safe distance away whenever an adult is using a knife. We also discussed the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and washing them thoroughly before eating.

Our students had the opportunity to touch, feel, and examine green and purple cabbage. They compared the colors, textures, shapes, and leaves while practicing patience and learning the importance of taking turns.

We also explored the many ways cabbage can be prepared, including steaming it, cooking it with meat, and using it to make coleslaw. To complete our lesson, our students enjoyed cabbage as part of their lunch!

What a fun, healthy, and hands-on learning experience! 💚💜
