🍎 This Week in Preschool: Color, Wiggles & Giggles!
🎨 Color Mixing Fun: We had such a silly, creative week together! The kids practiced zig‑zag tracing with markers, colored pencils and crayons, painted apples, and discovered that mixing red and yellow makes orange magic.
🛝 Outdoor Play: Outside, we balanced on logs, zoomed dump trucks, built sand castles, and turned the playhouse into the busiest ice cream shop in town.
📚 We also had a special visit from Ms. Olivia the librarian from the Bixby Library in Vergennes. Her silly stories had everyone giggling. Especially “The Book With No Pictures”
🎶 Music Time: At circle, we learned to tap rhythm sticks and shake egg shakers while singing and dancing. So much wiggly joy.
🤖 Robot Hotels with Magna‑Tiles: Growing Math & STEM Skills Through Play
After reading “Pete The Cat’s Robot” and “Are There Sheep in New York City?” The kids were very interested in robots and hotels! We had a really fun conversation after reading the book about friends who’ve stayed at hotels. We decided to combine the two and build robot hotels with Magna‑Tiles and alphabet transformers the kids call robots.
This activity in our science center invited preschoolers into rich, child-led engineering play where math concepts came alive. As children design rooms, doors, elevators, swimming pools and “robot parking garages,” they practice foundational skills in geometry, spatial reasoning, measurement, and problem‑solving! All while immersed in imaginative storytelling.
