On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Mr. Berry and his 8th Hour Economics class relocated to the cafeteria to hold one of the highlighted activities for the course—the Food Market Activity! During our unit on Demand, Supply, and Prices, students are allowed to work individually or with a partner to come up with their own food or beverage brand, determine various prices and quantities for their product, and then to offer their product to classmates in a “test market.” In the activity, the students get the opportunity to play both the role of producer as well as consumer and to use data from the market to measure demand for their product. For bonus points, students can bring in an actual sample of their product, which makes for an appetizing activity for all involved! This semester, all group participated in the providing of samples, making this day a special treat in Econ.
