๐ Ms. Kelly Smith from the Hardin County Public Library visited with our 3rd graders today during library time to share some exciting information about Libby, an app that gives readers access to free ebooks and audiobooks that they can borrow, download, and read/listen to at any time.
๐ Students will be bringing home yellow cards that can be filled out and returned to school if they are interested in being signed up for a free Libby card.
๐งกWe appreciate Ms. Kelly and the library for all they do to support lifelong reading in our students!

๐ West Hardin 5th graders enjoyed a special treat on September 23rd! They earned a trip into Savannah to watch the HCHS Homecoming Parade! They loved cheering on the Tigers and experiencing this fun activity for the first time! ๐งก

๐ Congratulations to Miss Kelly Gannon's 1st grade class for winning our September "Attendance is Sweet" contest! They had classroom perfect attendance the most days in September! They enjoyed eating all the candy in their candy jar as a reward!

๐๐ The West Hardin Student Council members treated the teachers and staff to some extra special goodies this week! Thanks kiddos for delivering room service snacks today!!!! And thanks to Mrs. Makaya for leading this great group of kids.๐งก

๐๐ Congratulations to all of these students for winning the poster contest for their grades for World School Milk Day! They were all awarded ribbons and goodies from the UT Extension Office. Congratulations kids!!! ๐งก
๐ฅMrs. Kristen's Pre-K Class celebrated World School Milk Day today! ๐ฎ
๐ Students dressed as milk cows and then got to experience 6 different activities to promote the importance of drinking milk and to have a lot of fun! Students made cow headbands, taste tested different kinds of milk - Oat Milk was their favorite, made frozen yogurt banana splits, learned how to milk a cow, played pin the tail on the cow and made magic milk art! They ended the morning with a milk mustache contest ๐
๐ค๐ค We want to send a HUGE Thank You to Mrs. Kristy and Mrs. Myra from Coordinated School Health and Mrs. Sondra, Ms. Michelle & friends from the UT Extension Office for bringing the activities along with lots of goodies for each student! ๐งก
๐๐We have three West Hardin students that have accomplished extra-curricular success this weekend!
๐จ 5th grade students at West Hardin participated in the Saltillo River Day Art Contest. They worked on their art entries at school during creative dramatics class with Mrs. Tammy Chrestman. All entries were submitted for the River Day committee to judge.
๐ Congratulations to Cadence Thomason who won 1st place, Jaden O'Steen who won 2nd place and Mazie Harville who won 3rd place. All three art pieces were displayed at River Day in Saltillo today. Cadence's 1st place submission has been framed and will hang in Saltillo Town Hall.
๐ In addition to her River Day artwork win, 5th grader Mazie Harville won the Reserve Champion Ribbon at the 4H Chick Chain Show today!

๐ฎ๐ผโโ๏ธ This was Officer Blake's last week at West Hardin as our School Resource Officer. We are extremely thankful for his service to our school, faculty, students & community over the years! We wish you the very best as you continue your deputy work in Hardin County!
๐งก We would like to welcome Officer Shamas Lewis as our new SRO! Officer Lewis has been training with Officer Blake & we are so happy to have him joining our West Hardin family. Make sure you welcome him if you see him around school ๐ค

๐ฌWe started classroom attendance competitions this month! Every day that a class has perfect attendance, a student will go to Mrs. Angela to get a piece of candy to put in their class candy jar! The classroom that has the most candy at the end of the month will be the winners and they will get to eat their candy in class! ๐๐คฉ
