AFASD already operates with voter-approved referendum funding.

The current referendum provides $3 million per year and expires at the end of the 2026-2027 school year.

The November 3 referendum asks voters to authorize $2.75 million per year for the following four years.

Current: $3 million per year

Proposed: $2.75 million per year

That's $250,000 less annually.

The proposed referendum would replace the current funding when it expires. It would not be added on top of it.

🌲 Adventure, teamwork, and leadership in Door County!

This past week, TEMA seniors participated in the annual three-day, two-night leadership camping trip in Door County, Wisconsin. Organized by DC Adventure Center, the experience gave students the opportunity to build leadership skills, strengthen teamwork, and grow in confidence and character.

Students took on a variety of outdoor adventures, including ziplining, ropes course climbing, hiking, kayaking, and Segway rides. They stayed at Potawatomi Campground, where they slept in tents and cooked meals over the fire, making the experience even more memorable.

A special thank you to the ABW Foundation for generously funding the trip, allowing every student to participate at no cost to families or the district. We are also grateful to DC Adventure Center for providing such a meaningful experience for our seniors.

Our students returned better prepared to work together throughout their senior year and take on the opportunities and challenges that await them after graduation. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our TEMA students! 🌲👏

AFASD has cut costs. We're consolidating schools. So why does a financial gap remain?

One significant factor is Wisconsin's school funding system.

Before 2010, state revenue limits were adjusted annually for inflation. Since then, those increases have not consistently kept pace with rising costs.

By 2026-2027, the cumulative difference is approximately $3,571 per student. For a district the size of AFASD, that represents approximately $4.6 million in annual revenue capacity compared with where the District would be if those inflationary adjustments had continued.

Meanwhile, the costs of operating our schools continue to rise.



We'll keep breaking down those costs and AFASD's finances as we move toward November 3.
