St. Stanislaus Kostka School is a Catholic elementary school in Adams, Massachusetts, educating a diverse population of children in Preschool through Grade 8.
Faith, Family, Academics & Tradition have been our foundation since 1912.
Operating as usual
Our 5th graders have been learning about circuits with Ms. Diamond. They are now making their own circuits to light up an image that they designed.

Our teachers? They show up. In the classroom. At the rink. Wherever our students need them, they’re there cheering them on! 🏒 🥅
🌈☘️Today, we celebrated the feast day of St. Patrick. But did you know that Patrick has never been formally canonised by a pope? This was common before the Great Schism of 1054.
Despite that, there was lots of learning about St. Patrick and Irish fun to be had! ☘️🌈
Here at St. Stan’s, we know spring is around the corner when Mr. Ciara comes to visit! The last two days, he’s helped our students in PreK and through 4th grade start some very special seeds to grow with love. 🌸
Happy 🥧 Day! Our middle school math students in grades 5 through 8 have been working to memorize as many digits of pi as they could for today’s contest. Our 4 winners with the most digits memorized were:
🥇 1st place - 5th grader, Julia, with 151 digits
🥈 2nd place - 7th grader, Elise, with 134 digits
🥉 3rd place - 6th grader, Claire, with 122 digits
🏅 4th place - 5th grader, Audrey, with 52 digits
Congratulations and well done, ladies! 🥧
Since the summer, a small group of middle school students have worked to create a room for history in the convent. Focusing mostly on World War II, the students organized donated books and videos and created discussion spaces. #HistoryLibrary
In Social Studies class the last couple weeks, our 5th graders worked on a Revolutionary War Book Project where they read an historical fiction novel, filled out a summary form, wrote a letter to the author, and created a visual project. Though there were several options for the visual project, all of the students chose to create dioramas.

Save The Date! Saturday, March 26th, our 8th Grade Families will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, in an effort to raise money for a trip to Washington D.C.
Tickets can be purchased directly from an 8th grade family.

Yesterday was Random Acts of Kindness Day! Students spent time talking about ways they could show kindness, colored pictures, and made a hallway display!

After learning about samurai (Feudal Japanese warriors), the seventh grade participated in a Samurai activity, where they completed daily tasks, including a tea ceremony, training, learning, mediating and relaxing with a game. #CreativeCurriculum
To our loyal and supportive #SSKScommunity:
As some of you may have heard, our principal, Mr. Rogge, announced this week that he plans to retire at the end of this school year.
In a letter to school families yesterday, School Board Chair, Judy Roy, said:
“On behalf of the St. Stanislaus Kostka School Board, I want to congratulate Principal Joe Rogge on his announced retirement at the end of this school year. We are proud of what the school community has achieved during his time guiding the school, particularly considering the unforeseen challenges of the last two years. He will leave the school in a strong position to continue its success.
Over the coming months, the school board and the Diocese of Springfield will work to find the right person to guide St. Stan’s into the future, while making sure we always honor our past. We will keep you updated as plans develop. We look forward to spending the remainder of the school year with Principal Rogge and we graciously anticipate celebrating his many years as an educator, particularly his time with St. Stan’s.
In the meantime, the school board joins the rest of the St. Stanislaus Kostka School community in thanking Joe for his unfailing dedication to the staff and students.”
Our school year is far from over. We move forward knowing there is work still to do and that Mr. Rogge will help make this transition as smooth as possible. He cares deeply for our school and students, and will do his best to set us up for success in the future before he leaves. Please join us in congratulating him!
Last Friday, we had a Snow Day and were unable to properly close out Catholic Schools Week activities.
We were able to move everything to today, and closed our day at Mass with Father Dariusz from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in North Adams, where he also spoke to students about vocations.
We absolutely love that he spent his afternoon with us, especially since it was his birthday today! The students all made birthday cards that were presented to him at the end of Mass, as we all sang him Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Father, for showing our students that are St. Elizabeth’s parishioners that you are invested in them at school, as well as in church. But also, for showing all of our other students that there are many people beyond Adams who are also invested in their faith and education. Happy birthday! And welcome to the #SSKScommunity! You’re one of us now!
1st grade had lots of fun celebrating the 💯th day of school today!!
Sharing a few more student art projects today! 1st grade gum ball machines, 2nd penguins, and 3rd grade historical figures! 🖼 🎨 ✏️
To our community:
Each year during Catholic Schools Week, we look forward to welcoming you into our school for our Annual Curriculum Fair. This year, as with last, we decided it was safest to record the students' projects instead of holding an in-person event.
Our hope and prayer is that we will be able to return to an in-person event next year! Until then, please enjoy the hard work and beautiful presentations from our students this year!

Today, we celebrated our Nation! Corbin Richardson came and spoke to students about his time in the Army. Students had a dress down day and could dress in red, white and blue. Buddies also worked together to make cards for service men & women. 🇺🇸#CSW2022

Our Curriculum Fair will be virtual again this year, but all of our students are hard at work on their projects. Here’s a sneak peek at 1st grade’s work on their habitat creations!
Students in all grades have been getting creative and working very hard in art class this last quarter! Here is a sampling of some of the projects from various grades for you to enjoy on this chilly, Friday afternoon. 🎨 🖍
Today is the feast of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. In 1810, she founded the first Catholic school in the United States, and we are blessed to continue her work today at St. Stan's. St. Elizabeth devoted her life to Catholic education, and she was the first citizen born in the United States to be given the title of “Saint.”
This picture is of the original building where she founded the school and this link goes to her shrine: https://setonshrine.org/
Wishing you all a blessed and very merry Christmas! ✨🎄
On our last day of school before Christmas break today, students had the opportunity to pay a dollar to wear an “ugly Christmas sweater” or Christmas themed outfit instead of their uniform. All of the money we raise will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the new year.
Wishing all of our families the hope, peace, joy and love of Christmas, and a safe, healthy, FUN break! We’ll see you in 2022!
In addition to the Education Access Channel playback times we posted the other day, our 2021 Christmas Pageant can also be viewed on YouTube!

Last week, we had two very special visitors: Santa & our friend Deacon Greg! Join them both for a special Christmas episode of Deacon Says!
The Children of Mary here at St. Stan’s collect Christmas gifts for the Felician Sisters every year. As many of you know, the Felician Sisters played an integral role in the school and education of our students from its beginning in 1912, through 2019 with the reassignment of Sister Jacqueline. Yesterday, Principal Rogge drove to Connecticut to deliver the gifts!
St. Stan’s had a very special visitor this week! Bringing a little Christmas magic, some candy canes, and a reminder of the real reason for the season, Santa visited students with the baby Jesus! 🎅
