Some of our third graders fall foxes!

First graders are “nuts” about acorns!! We got to paint and mix colors to create our leaves, talked about different kinds of lines on the parts of the acorn, and thought about expressions while making a face. Finally, everyone got to bring home a “real” acorn!!

Thank you Mrs. Moore for taking our cassette tape quilt to the theater!! Keep your eyes open for more art displayed there.

We read the book I’m Not Just a Scribble and talked about how to be a good friend and play together. Then we made scribble friends.

We spent the first Art time talking about WHY we come to art class. One of the reasons is practice working collaboratively. Our week one collaboration is on the wall! It is very difficult to get a good picture because it is so big, so there is a video in the comments.

Check out the Adams County Fair for the art display from AFE. Maybe you’ll know someone who has art there!

In addition, there will be a collaborative art piece that families can work on together! It will then be displayed in the cafeteria!

As I start thinking about the new school year, there are lots of things that I'd love to have for the students, but don't necessarilly have the funds for. Some of my 4th grade besties and my K-4 Art Citizens of the year! Art citizenship is overall art room behavior, respect and helpfulness. Love these kids!!

Huge shout out to Ms. Matteson, Ms. Babcock and Mrs. Johnson for all your help hanging the Sweet Summertime art show at the FAC gallery!! All AFE students worked collaboratively on the pieces in this show. Please take some time to visit the next time you’re in the FAC!

Some finished clay pieces! 1st grade chicken pockets, Kindergarten dripping paintbrushes and 4K donuts.

The clay craziness begins!! 4K made donuts and 5K made paintbrushes. We still need to add more to those!!

Mrs. Kossler and Mrs. VanErt got into the YAM spirit dressing like Vincent Van Gogh today!! I didn’t get a pic of Mrs. VanErt though.

YAM Salvador Dalí Mustache Day! Students enjoyed creating their masterpieces with their impressive facial hair. I feel like it inspired creativity!

YAM Self Portrait Day! Today students looked at self portraits in many different styles, including my personal favorite by Norman Rockwell- Triple Self Portrait. We then created a portrait of ourselves as the artist at our easel.

She took a healthy lead early on and never let it go. Iris Scott, finger painter, wins the first ever ARTditarod!! Videos about Iris will be in the comments.

YAM Art With Administrators Day!! We were joined by Dr. Wermuth, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Miner throughout the day. We created beautiful flower gardens with 2 different painting techniques. Everyone had a great time!

YAM Still Life Day!! These still life drawings are created by students in grades K, 2 and 3.

YAM Day 5-Visiting artist Kris Bakke talks about brush care and teaches the kids about gouache.

Harper P is Art Sudent of the Month!! Bobbi Ross presents her with her honorary sketchbook.

Congratulations AFE art student of the month Alaina B!!

Oh, my gourd- aren’t these 1st grade gourds adorable??!! We talked about shapes and textures of gourds, colors of gourds, uses of gourds, and then gave them expressions because why wouldn’t we??

Finally got our first week collaborative art piece up! The kids learned about that retro source of music- the cassette tape! AFE Rocks!!

Stretching our creative muscles by doing some old school building!! Lincoln logs and tinker toys for the win!!
