Hi. My name is Sean Beck. I am a parent of a future Bulldog. Though my little one is still a few years away from officially walking through the doors at Ada Schools, I still think it’s crucial to continue to support the District in every way we can, including voting FOR the levy next week. This money will continue the school’s vital operations. Also, this Levy is NOT A NEW levy! We’re just voting to continue the support we already give.
Please help to ensure that our schools are well funded now, and in the future.
Mr. Larry Claypool, Interim Superintendent, thanks you supporting Ada Schools by voting YES on November 2!

From Superintendent Skilliter:
There are several questions we are frequently asked about the upcoming RENEWAL levy, so we thought we'd share those questions and their answers:
When will this renewal levy be on the ballot?
November 6, 2018
What kind of levy is this?
This is a renewal of a Permanent Improvement levy. The levy is NOT a new tax and is NOT a tax increase. It is a 2.9 mill property tax levy.
When was this levy first approved by voters?
Voters first approved it in 1990, and voters have generously renewed or replaced it since that time.
What does “Permanent Improvement” mean?
Permanent Improvement monies cannot be used for general operating costs, but must be used for items that have a life of five years or more, such as school equipment and machinery, text books, technology, security equipment, and building repairs.
Why is passing this levy important to the school?
Without specific permanent improvement monies, these expenditures would have to come out of general fund monies, reducing the general fund monies available for educational expenses. With the new school reaching 10 years of age, we must continue to invest in maintenance and responsible replacement of out of date items in such a way to extend the life and maintain the efficiency of the building.

The Advancing Ada Schools Levy Committee will meet on Thursday morning at 7:30 in the Board room for one of our last, if not our last, meeting. If you missed it last time, you are more than encouraged to come join us! Let’s support our school!
The Advancing Ada Schools levy committee will meet tonight to organize at 6:00 in the Board Office. Come on down if you'd like to volunteer or help with an activity or two!
The school will have a RENEWAL levy on the November ballot. According to Superintendent Meri Skilliter, “Previous Board members and district leaders did a wonderful job throughout recent years of spreading the tax burden between property and income tax. The community has been generous in renewing the levies that generate revenue for operations and capital improvements. The down side to spreading out the burden is that the various levies have to be renewed, and the timelines for when they were initiated leaves a renewal of one of these levies on the ballot about every two years.”
Advancing Ada Schools is looking for some Bulldog supporters to help with a short, low-key campaign for the renewal on the ballot in November. There are many experienced people on the committee, and the various tasks are easy to break down and spread out amongst committee members. It is important to have new members, including parents of younger students, to learn the ropes while seasoned members’ children grow up and these people rotate off the committee, to continue to have great school supporters helping get information out to the electorate as these levies need renewed.
Our organizational meeting will be on August 2, at 6:00, in the Board Room/Central Office (old building). If you have questions, please call the office 419-634-5421. Or just show up! It’s a fun group of people who love Ada Schools.
