tstanding music programs. It is also accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The ONU Music Department offers the following degrees:

Bachelor of Music in Music Performance—designed for the student who has the desire to achieve a level of professional and artistic competence in a particular applied study area. The emphasis is on the development of all of the resources required to be an effective performer and teacher in the chosen applied study area, and to provide essential background in all other areas of music pertinent to the profession. Performance majors go onto graduate school or become professors in higher education. Bachelor of Music in Music Education--designed for the student with the ability, desire, and determination to become an outstanding music teacher. The program allows the ONU graduate to be licensed to teach instrumental, vocal and/or general music, Kindergarten through 12th grade, in the state of Ohio. 100% Placement rates as far as Arizona and North Carolina. Bachelor of Arts in Music with concentrations in: Applied Studies, Music History and Literature, Music Theory and Composition, Minor in Administration Arts—designed for the student who has a deep passion for music and wants to study the field with a broad knowledge and understanding of music, it’s history, cultural impact, and it’s performance practices. Students pursuing this degree must complete one of the concentrations as well. Music faculty members possess national and international reputations as performers and scholars, and are all first and foremost dedicated teachers and devoted mentors. Students in freshmen level music courses are taught by music faculty members, not graduate students. Class sizes are small and individual attention is always available!
