A great time was had by all at our Chili Cook Off. We had 12 delicious entries that ALL looked, smelled and tasted fantastic. Congratulations to our 1st place winner Nick Orlando and 2nd place winner cadet Kamran Padilla with only 1 vote separating the two.

Great job to ALL the cadets on their AMI. You all looked amazing. Special shout-out to Allatoona’s culinary dept. for their beautiful catered reception with a wide assortment of delicious sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres.

A few stops on our way back home. 1st stop, Fort Pulaski National Monument. Fort Pulaski was ranked one of the “most spectacular harbor defense structures” in the U.S. during the Civil War era. Damage from the union soldier’s artillery can be seen on the fort’s exterior brick structure. Equally impressive was the moat surrounding the fort.
Second stop, the United States Coast Guard Station on Tybee Island. The cadets were briefed on what the Coast Guard’s duties are as well as their job within law enforcement and Homeland Security. They participated in throwing out a buoyant heaving line and were able to step aboard the Pompano, an 85’ cutter, that is virtually unsinkable (it can self-right if capsized). Finishing up, they boarded a defender-class (response) boat and had a photo op with its rubberized mock machine gun. It was an amazing opportunity for these cadets and enjoyed by all.
