My name is Sean George.
I'm the President and CEO of Our Children Read, I’ve written and published over 70 children’s books, and I am a proud graduate of Morehouse College.
Today, I'm asking you to join me in something much bigger than a book.

According to HBCU Money, Howard University recently became the first HBCU in history to surpass a $1 billion endowment.
That is an incredible achievement.
It's a moment worth celebrating.
But it's also a reminder of how much work we still have to do.

Let's put things into perspective.
Howard University has an endowment of approximately $1 BILLION.
Spelman College has an endowment of more than $500 MILLION.
Morehouse College has an endowment of approximately $180 MILLION.
Now let's compare that to some of America's wealthiest universities.
Harvard University's endowment exceeds $55 BILLION.
Yale University's endowment exceeds $40 BILLION.
Stanford University's endowment exceeds $38 BILLION.
Princeton University's endowment exceeds $34 BILLION.
MIT's endowment exceeds $25 BILLION.

Think about that.
Howard University made history by reaching $1BILLION.
But Harvard has MORE THAN 55 TIMES that amount.
One university.
One school.
MORE THAN $55 BILLION.

THAT’s NOT A CRITICISM OF HARVARD.
THAT’S A CHALLENGE TO US.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities have produced some of the world's greatest leaders.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Kamala Harris.
Spike Lee.
Samuel L. Jackson.
Oprah Winfrey.
Stacey Abrams.
And countless doctors, lawyers, educators, scientists, entrepreneurs, judges, engineers, artists, and public servants who continue to change the world every single day.
Yet many of our institutions do not have the financial resources that match their impact.
And that has to change.

My vision is simple.
Let's help every HBCU become a billion-dollar institution.
Not just Howard.
EVERY HBCU.
Let's help Spelman reach $1 BILLION.
Let's help Morehouse reach $1 BILLION.
Let's help Clark Atlanta reach $1 BILLION.
Let's help Florida A&M.
North Carolina A&T.
Morgan State.
Hampton.
Norfolk State.
And every HBCU across this country reach the billion-dollar milestone.

That is why I created the
"Show Some HBCU Love" Book Series.
My goal is to create a children's book for every HBCU in America.
These books will do more than tell stories.
They will help children understand why they should want to attend each HBCU.
They will introduce children to the culture, qualities & characteristics of HBCU alumni from each school, past and present,
who are making a difference in their communities, their professions, and throughout the world.

Our first book,
"I Want To Be A Morehouse Man Because..."
is already available.
And I'm excited to announce that "I Want To Be A Spelman Woman Because..."
which I co-authored with my daughter, Sanaa George, a Spelman College Class of 2023 Summa Cum Laude graduate,
is now available for preorder.

We're also developing books for Clark Atlanta University, Howard University, and many other HBCUs.
