First Year Program:
During the first year children learn basic
drawing skills using graphite and graphite
pencils, painting still life with acrylics, and are
introduced to color theory and composition. Art history lessons cover an art of the Ancient
worlds: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and
Ancient Roman art and architecture
Every topic is concluded with a creative
project based on the style and technique of the
historic period studied. Second Year Program:
During the second year children continue
building their drawing and painting skills,
moving from basic shapes to more complex
drawings and still life arrangements. Art History lectures cover the Roman art, the
Middle Ages in Europe, and art and architecture
of the Italian Renaissance. Third Year Program:
The third year program introduces children
to portrait drawing: children draw copies of
antique sculptural portraits, the human scull,
study head anatomy and draw a live portrait;
Children paint more complex still life, and try
abstract art. Art history topics include
Europian Art of the 18th and 19th centuries
