Halloween Dance - October 27 5:30-8:00pm

Halloween Dance for Grades 6-8 is this Friday.

Tickets on sale all week for $10 at lunch. Tickets may not be purchased at the door.

The Halloween Dance is traditionally a costume dance, but a costume is not required.

Booster Club is a great support of the Halloween Dance. We are in need of Chaperones for the Dance. Please get fingerprinted at the District Office and then join us as a Chaperone for the Halloween Dance on Friday. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Halloween Costume Contest - October 31st at Lunch

There will be a Costume Contest on Tuesday, October 31st at both lunches.

Costumes worn to school must follow our Costume Guidelines and be in compliance with school dress code. See attached Costume Guidelines.

Red Ribbon Week 2023 - October 23 to 27

Red Ribbon Week is an annual awareness campaign in the United States that takes place during the last week of October. It serves as a time to educate and remind people, particularly young students, about the dangers of drug and substance abuse. The campaign was initiated in memory of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who lost his life while fighting against drug trafficking. Red Ribbon Week encourages individuals to wear red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to living a drug-free life and to promote the message that a healthy, drug-free lifestyle is both achievable and desirable. Through various activities and educational programs, this week-long event aims to prevent substance abuse, support individuals in recovery, and foster a sense of community and responsibility in addressing the problems associated with drug use. This week is a great week to have conversations with your students about the importance of staying DRUG FREE!

Flag Football 2023
Tryouts are on this week. 5/6th Grade on Oct. 16th and 7/8th Grade on Oct. 17th. Be sure to complete the Athletic Clearance online, submit your physical and Proof of Insurance, and ensure that you have a 2.0 or higher GPA by the end of Q1 on Oct. 13th.

7/8th Handbells

Mr. Rowland is excited to begin the 7/8th grade handbells. They meet on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:15. All students are welcome to join. No music experience is necessary.

VHS Fall Festival 2023

Vasquez PTSO is hosting the Annual Fall Festival at VHS on October 21st. HDS Booster Club and Athletics will be hosting booths at the event. We would love to see our Hawks participating in the event or joining that day for the festivities.

HDS Dodgeball Tournament

HDS Booster Club is hosting a Dodgeball Tournament for all families in the community. Save the Date for November 3rd and email [email protected] to register your team! Good luck everyone!

Cross Country 2023

Cross Country runners have started training and are excited for their first meet this Friday at Joe Walker.

HDS Flag Football 2023

Flag Football Tryouts are on October 16 and 17th. Be sure to get your Athletic Clearance in and grades improved to be eligible for tryouts.

Outdoor Science School Parent Meeting

Calling all 5th grade families, there is a parent meeting for Outdoor Science School on October 13 from 3-4pm. Be sure to attend to get all of your questions about Outdoor Science School answered.

We need volunteers to help with the snack bar.
We are looking for parents for this Friday's game and again on October 12. Volunteering while your kid isn't playing gives other parents a chance to watch while their kid plays.

HDS Mascot 2023

Do you have school spirit? Are you interested in becoming our Hawk mascot? Tryouts for our first HDS Mascot are next Monday, Sept. 18th from 2:30-3:30 after school.

Hawks Family Game Night

We look forward to seeing all of our Hawks and their families at Hawks Family Game Night tonight, September 21st from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. There will be a bounce house, obstacle course, flag football, board games, lawn games, co****le, Bernie's BBQ Food Truck, churros, snack bar, and more!

Thank you to our amazing Booster Club and ELAC for their support of our first community event! We look forward to seeing all of our Hawks and their families next Thursday at 5:30pm in the quad at the High Desert Hawk's Nest!

Hello Hawk Families!!

Tomorrow Wednesday September 6th at 9:00a.m. in the library will be our first Booster Club meeting.

We will be discussing the family game night, fall festival, and dodge ball fundraiser. We will have sign up sheets for committees and interests.

Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Wednesday August 16th is Early Release Wednesday, dismissal is at 1:10 pm!

Flor drop-off, please see the attached diagram. Students will be dropped off at the gate in front of the main office and will continue to the gate in front of the MPR to enter the quad. Students will remain in the Quad in the mornings. The bell will ring at 7:55 am for students to line up for their first class. Parents will proceed down Crown Valley Rd. They will pull into the bus loop and follow it around to exit. For the safety of all of our students, please do not make a U-turn.

For pick-up, parents will follow the same procedure. Students will wait on the sidewalk area for their ride and parents will follow through the bus loop to exit after picking up their student.

High Desert Athletics is excited to announce tryout dates for Volleyball on Aug. 16, 17, 18 right after school in the MPR.

All students interested in trying out for Volleyball must have their Athletic Clearance prior to tryouts. Clearance includes ALL of the following:

Online Athletic Registration and Forms at https://homecampus.com

Physical completed and uploaded online or turned in to the HDS Office

Proof of Health Insurance Coverage

Be sure to follow the attached instructions for completing the online athletic clearance.

School - Select Vasquez (High Desert is under Vasquez High School for online clearance)

Year - Select 2023-2024

Sport - Select MS Volleyball (for Middle School Volleyball)
