Today, our Dietetic Intern Haley made a bulletin board for national nutrition month. She attends Umass Lowell, graduating this May with her Master’s in Public Health/ Dietetics. She is excited to continue learning all about school foodservice and we are excited to have her!

Yesterday, students at our elementary schools tried a new lunch item, a taco plate!
They could do it their way: dip, dunk, scoop, or turn it into a taco 😊 There is nothing better than a fun and healthy meal!

Happy March! 🥗
Over February break, our team rolled over 4,200 homemade meatballs! (The picture shown is pre-oven 😊) These meatballs will be featured on the Elementary and Junior High menus this month.
The Junior High will be featuring buffalo chicken dip served alongside veggies and tortilla chips. As always, fruits, vegetables, and milk are free with lunch, and encouraged to be on the tray!
The highlight of the month on the High School menu is sweet and sour chicken. This delicious meal is served over brown rice and roasted vegetables!
March's Harvest of the Month is Dairy! Dairy served on our menus will support local farms and farmers this month

Happy Snow Day! Due to the snow, we are having hot dogs and local butternut squash fries at the elementary schools tomorrow and we will continue to have Walden Local Hamburgers at the Junior High and High School 😊

February's menu is now posted ❤
Our elementary school menu highlight of the month is our local butternut squash fries. Butternut squashes are put through a special machine to turn into a "french fry" shape.
The Junior High's monthly highlight is chicken (or cheese) quesadillas! These quesadillas are made with a whole-grain tortilla and are served with salsa, guacamole (not pictured), and a variety of fresh fruits and veggies!
The high school menu highlight of the month is Red's Best Fish Sticks. These fish sticks are caught and made locally. We are excited to have these on the menu for the first time.

Today at the Junior High, students had the opportunity to try a twist on the Filipino dish, Sinarsahang. Our version was adapted from our cook's grandmother's recipe!
This dish included chicken, potatoes, carrots, and peas in a sweet tomato sauce served over brown rice and was delicious! 😊

🍎 Our elementary school menu highlight of the month is our vegetarian lo mein! The lo mein is topped with veggies and teriyaki sauce and served alongside a fortune cookie

This week, we paired with students in to make homemade latkes for their peers to sample in the cafeteria! Over 350 latkes were made and enjoyed by students and staff alike. The students in JSU did a wonderful job and the latkes were absolutely delicious!
